Our tickets aren’t until tomorrow but I’ve had a really fun first week of Wimbledon… popping into the queue to do some needlepoint deliveries (a moment please for the most incredible Wimbledon nails @sbesso14), a @cheekystitchers meetup in Southfields and sneaking in some matches on tv while I paint 🎨 It’s been wonderful to see some new AND old friends (@cbhawthorn I’m talking about you!) The weather has been fantastic so far and I can’t wait to head to the courts tomorrow ☀️🎾

Meet Carrie! Aka @hrhstitches 🙋🏼‍♀️ She grew up in Connecticut and has called the UK home for the past 18 years. She first got into needlepoint as a schoolgirl and, honestly, never really stopped.

These days she’s based in the Surrey Hills, and her needlepoint goes wherever she does - London cocktail bars, beaches, poolside, driving to France for ski trips, and even the odd ice cream queue in Nantucket. Her mini-me daughter has caught the bug too, and some of her favorite stitching sessions are the ones they share together.

She’s become a bit of a legend at stitch club - whether she’s arriving with a skeleton stitcher dressed in a Nap dress for Halloween (obviously), unveiling a Christmas tree with 200+ hand-stitched ornaments, or simply being the person who brings as much laughter to the table as actual stitching.

Hosting, chatting, and stitching with friends — ideally with her daughter alongside her — is her idea of a perfect afternoon. One day, she’d love to open her own needlepoint shop right here in Surrey. 🧵

This week Saturday marks ANZAC Day across New Zealand and Australia, a time for remembrance of those who fought for our small nations.

I stitched this poppy from a charts for charity by @hrhstitches and @london_stitcher, choosing to support the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. It felt especially meaningful after my sister and I visited the graves of our great great uncles Alban Jackson and Ernest Jackson in Bapaume and Bancourt, France.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

These three were hand delivered today. 2 memorable ornaments and a bag charm. Loving the poppy in these colours! The cording is blk and gold, but gold doesn't photograph that well.

Today was A BLAST we had so many new stitchers join and plenty of card carrying Cheeky Stitchers as well… next up thank you @hrhstitches for organizing our October meetup she will be giving a prize for the best costume or spookiest stitch!!! 👻 RSVP in comments below xxx

I’ve been a fan of @hrhstitches and the beautiful canvases she stitches (if you don’t follow her, you should!). She peaked my interest with her recent post on stitching a Butterfinger canvas. I couldn’t help but see a perfect use for The Needlepoint Journal ☺️
