Walking back and forth from Kingly Street to Oxford Street with @hughtodd’s genius campaign freshly spray mounted on polyboard. High on the glue I just wanted to visit Mister Selfridge (but he’d send me back with receipts). This campaign ran on 48-sheet billboards. Read the full story in my latest column for the ever-brilliant On London - link in bio or copy and paste this with your scalpel: https://www.onlondon.co.uk/julie-hamill-its-worth-living-in-london-for-selfridges/ Thanks to Hugh Todd, Adam Scholes, Nick Cross, Vittorio Radice, the really excellent Selfridges marketing team, BBH’s free cappucinos and of course, Harry Gordon Selfridge. @hughtodd and I spent the day in Manchester recording @getbehindthebillboard podcasts on Tuesday. The day before the big game. Naturally I asked AI to sort out Toddy’s shirt choice. The result is pretty scary. #dopplegangAI

This isn't a cake. I've always been a bit scared of things that rely on yeast. All that proving / rising malarkey. But thanks to my good friend @hughtodd I thought I'd have a go at a loaf of bread. Nigel Slater's Basic White. Oh my goodness. Cup of tea and a buttered slice. Hands down the best bread I've ever tasted. And the ludicrous thrill of turning flour, water, salt and yeast into something that tastes so good. Love it! #notacake #nigelslater #basicwhite #realbutter #barrystea

Book Tour - It Happened In Clissold Park by Hugh Todd 13th - 22nd March  Genre: Contemporary/ Literary Fiction/ Short Stories Pages: 200 Publisher: Troubadour Publishing I love people watching, and this book allowed me to glimpse the normal lives of the characters living around Clissold Park. The author turned the mundane daily grind of working, loving, and living into interesting short stories that linked through the setting and characters within the book. I really liked this concept, and by the end of the book, Clissold Park felt like a well-trodden place and had the familiarity of home. I really got to feel the sense of community. Each story is set in a different month of the year, and although there is some overlap, the variety was intriguing. It was difficult to pick a favourite as each story had its own charm. Although I have a soft spot for October! The stories cover themes that will make you feel all the emotions, but overall, I thought this was a sweet, uplifting book about life. The book made me think of how we are all in our own bubble of life, trying to make the best of it. It was well written, and the characters came to life. I also really love the cover! Huge thanks to the author,  publisher, and Love Books Tours for providing a copy of the book for me to review.  #Ad #LBTCrew #Bookstagram

#Ad #Gifted #BookReview It Happened In Clissold Park by Hugh Todd 13th - 22nd March Genre: Contemporary/ Literary Fiction/ Short Stories Pages: 200 Publisher: Troubadour Publishing This book is an utter delight. I loved it. The premise grabbed me immediately - twelve short stories, all connected somehow and interwoven. The writing is beautifully descriptive without being flowery and although the individual stories are short, there is depth to them. There is magic in these pages and if you know me, you’ll know that’s always a big plus for me. Love a bit of magic. Clissold Park is a real genuine location and I believe magic is real too. Pick up this book and see if you can be convinced. Also a moment for the cover which is stunning. Highly recommended. One of my faves so far this year. #Ad #LBTCrew #Bookstagram #FreeReview Blurb Clissold Park in North London boasts football pitches, ponds, woods, a playground, and even a deer park. ✨BOOK REVIEW ✨ 📖 It Happened In Clissold Park - Hugh Todd Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ AD : PR PRODUCT : GIFT Swipe for Blurb… 💭 Hugh Todd has delivered a delightful book of short stories all centred around the residents and visitors to Clissold Park in London. With 12 short stories, each one dedicated to a character from the park, and each chapter representing the corresponding month of the year, this book is quite unique. The beautifully written stories range from the young love of Josh and Essen to truffle hunting dogs; and from park-keeper duo Lloyd and Rob to the centuries old love of two resident trees of the park. Every chapter / month allows the reader to enter the lives of the characters of the park, and as the year progresses you get to learn how all these lives are intertwined with one another, and how earlier characters are doing later in the year. Throughout the book, there are constant references to the memorial benches located within the park dedicated to the people who once were regular visitors there, and I would have to say that my favourite chapter of the book is October where all the ghosts of the past residents and visitors meet at the tennis courts for their annual Halloween party! This book covers love, death, grief, family, ambition, nature, supernatural and many more topics all in the space of these 12 short stories, but still remains a very gentle read. ✨ "It Happened In Clissold Park" by Hugh Todd ✨ Genre: Contemporary/ Literary Fiction/ Short Stories ✨ Publisher: Troubadour Publishing ✨ Available now Thank you @hughtodd @troubadour_publishing & @lovebooktours for inviting me on this book tour and the gifted book. 📝Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I really enjoyed this collection of short stories. It's centred around events in Clissold Park told over the course of a year, with each story giving an entertaining glimpse into different characters lives, with some overlaps of work colleagues and friends. Each story is unique and explores the mundane aspects of life and work, as well as surprises, relationships, drama, and a diverse cast. I loved the way it explored different perspectives and makes you think about the unseen curiosities of life and from different points of view. It has a fabulous range from truffle hunts to ghostly reunions, and catching criminals to killer trees. I liked the supernatural elements, and how the ending ties everything nicely back to the beginning. Definitely recommend if you want something lighthearted and thought provoking. ✨ An audience of one ✨ Romeo & Juliet and Ali ✨ One in 300,000,000 ✨ A view to die for ✨ The hunter ✨ The Clissold cowgirl ✨ The Mound ✨ The birthday girl ✨ The coin ✨ The dead party ✨ The ballistic brothers ✨ Janet's little helper . . . . . #Ad #giftedbook #LBTCrew #freereview #freebookreview #bookmail #unboxing #newrelease #lovebooktours #booklover #arcreader #bookreviews #booktours #booksbooksbooks #bookpromotion #ithappenedinclissoldpark #shortstories #literaryfiction

📗📕BOOK REVIEW 📕📗 "It Happened In Clissold Park" by Hugh Todd ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I love looking at maps, so I was particularly drawn to this book. I loved the community spirit and the recurring characters that appeared in the stories that are organised into months of the year. The book vividly enabled you to picture the changing seasons. I found myself placing Clissold Park within Parks that I've known over the years, although they might not necessarily have had all the same facilities. I rather like books that lend themselves to being read in a particular time or place. I'd like to re-read the first 3 chapters, then read April's story in April, etc. I love the curmudgeonly Rob the park-keeper and the July story "The Mound," which was just weird, I kept waiting for it to be a dream. The "Dead Party" was another favourite, also "Birthday Girl" they made were full of mixed emotions. Enjoy your visit. My thoughts This isn't a long book, just shy of 200 pages, and the way it reads just absolutely flies by, I'd read half the book in one sitting and it felt like no time at all had passed. I liked how each chapter was a different month of the year, it covered a few days in that month and was told from different characters viewpoints each month, though all the characters were linked by Clissold Park. The relationships between the characters felt very natural and very warming to read. There were lots of different things that happened, from the supernatural to the mundane. It really was a tale about how one place can mean so many different things to different people. This is wonderfully written, and I'd definitely read more by this author.
