‼️QOTD: Do social impact advocates / advocacy orgs have an obligation to resist or refuse the use of their image/branding on AI-generated marketing assets (flyers, signage, etc)?

This is a question I’ve been wrestling with after seeing a couple of recent instances, and especially as the owner of a comms agency working predominantly in the social impact sector. So, I’ve decided to do some informal polling. Whether you’re in comms, advocacy or event planning or marketing, weigh in!

“‘Grateful’ Melinda French Gates Doubles Olivia Rodrigo’s Daisy Chain Fields Donation to $20 Million” - @rollingstone

Just one week ago, there’s no way I could have ever imagined this headline would even exist.

When we first received the call that @oliviarodrigo had selected @blackmamasmatter(BMMA) as one of the 10 non-profits being spotlighted at her first-ever Daisy Chain Fields Festival, it was both exhilarating and, if I’m being honest, slightly scary. With no idea of (or precedent for) what we were walking into, we put faith and trust into the process, Olivia and the incredibly talented DCF team, who went above and beyond at every level to ensure this experience was as comfortable as it was meaningful.

What transpired not just at Saturday’s festival but in the days leading up to it I still don’t have the words to sufficiently capture. The beauty of it all. The unfettered love we felt. The care and safety we were afforded. The relationships, new and existing, that are now bound together in this historical moment. $20 Million spread across all of our work ($2M per org), a show of tremendous solidarity and support with a multiplier effect that will hopefully signal to other funders and donors that this work, all of our work, is DESERVING of investment and commitments that SUSTAIN.

So thank you, Olivia and @daisychainfields. Thank you, thank you, thank you. And to my dear BMMA colleagues, we left nothing unsaid before leaving each other that night. I love you deeply and couldn’t have dreamt up a better squad to roll up my sleeves and (literally) walk miles with. Now, onward.

#NABJ26 Reflections:

As I prepare this week for my final work trip of the summer (whew!) I am still reflecting on my first-time experience moderating a panel at this year’s @nabjofficial Convention & Career Fair in Atlanta! I absolutely love helping to steward important and timely discussions, especially ones that aim to strengthen the relationships between PR/Comms professionals and Journalists / The Press. Thanks again to the incredible @aaronlmorrison, @chelcglenn, @takara.mov and Khalil Cole for the brilliant and motivating dialogue.

What made it even more meaningful was looking up and seeing the woman who not only inspired but HIRED me for my first PR role as an intern at @nbcphiladelphia while I was in my junior year at @templeuniv. @viproject2030 gave me the most amazing surprise by showing up to support our panel and capturing photos. It was our first time reconnecting since 2006! It most certainly will not be our last. Another full-circle life and career moment for sure.

✨Not-So-Sidebar: If you are seeking a moderator for your next panel, let’s work!

✈️ Presently on a plane from Chicago headed to Atlanta to moderate this amazing panel today at #NABJ26! Not even tornados, downed power lines, a postponed flight and delayed takeoff can keep me from this important and timely conversation with such brilliant folks I’m proud to call colleagues and friends.

If you’re a registered attendee, this session will take place in Room M107. Hope to see you there!

Wonderful evening accompanying my client, @blackmamasmatter Co-Founder & Exec Director and TIME100 Health and TIME Closers List Honoree @doyinspeaks to last night’s celebratory dinner in NYC. Now in its 10th year, Angela and BMMA were recognized by @time for their work advancing Black Maternal, Perinatal and Reproductive Health, and for founding the National Annual Black Maternal Health Week (BMHW) campaign, which returns this April 11-17!

Congrats again to all of this year’s honorees who are making critical impact on global health outcomes! 💫

✨2026 Reset ✨

They say if you want to consistently test your faith in God, become an entrepreneur.

December 2025 marked the 15th birthday of my PR and communications agency, Human Impact Solutions. I launched this business after experiencing a deeply personal tragic loss that propelled me toward freedom—spiritually, mentally, financially, and professionally.

Fifteen years later, I’m thrilled that my baby is now a teenager (basically a high school sophomore 😄). In this time we’ve been privileged to work with everyone from giants in entertainment and sports like Ava DuVernay, Ryan Coogler, Ernest R. Dickerson and 7x NBA Champs The Golden State Warriors, to social impact and community leaders like Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA), The Opportunity Network, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Decolonizing Wealth Project, LIVE FREE USA, Leadership LINKS, Inc., and many more.

Despite all of the things thrown our way, HIS is committed to our mission of amplifying leaders, storytellers and artists who need to be championed now more than ever.

So who are we? @humanimpactpr is a full-service PR and communications agency offering:

📍 Media relations support
📍 Crisis and rapid response management
📍 Impact report development
📍 Social media campaign development
📍 Messaging strategy and development
📍 Media training and elevator pitch coaching
📍 Event programming, production development, and execution
📍 And more

If you’re looking to bring on a high-impact partner to power your communications strategy this year—which will be an especially momentous year for those of us in the #nonprofit, #health #policy, #tech, #education sectors—reach out today at humanimpactsolutions.com.

Let’s make 2026 YOUR most impactful year yet. 🚀 💫

Y’ALL. ⚠️

What’s happening every day in this country and around the world leaves me feeling breathless most days. But this feeling of helplessness is one we can do something about.

We (@humanimpactpr) have launched an online food drive in collab with @somersetcountyfoodbank to support individuals and families in our immediate community. Please make a donation today and help us meet our set goal of delivering 1,000 lbs. of food within the next 24 days. A gift of $25.00 will cover 12 lbs of fresh fruit.

And because even that doesn’t feel sufficient in the face of what we’re up against — if there is a food drive, food bank, church, school, community-based org, etc. local to YOU that you’re actively supporting, DM me their info and I’ll donate there too. Cuz WE all WE got.
