In Feb. 2019 I was inspired by a feature in ELLE Magazine (remember those??) on @yvettenoelschure. If you don’t know the name, YOU’RE LATE, go look it up. Hint: 🐝🐝🐝🐝

That day I posted my intention to meet her one day. Roughly 4 months later it happened and I got to meet her as part of a group. Then 6 years after it happened again, courtesy of @CultureCon. This time, it was 1:1.

Universe, I see you and I receive all you’re trying to show and tell me. Keep revealing how much better it can get. I promise I’m listening and I’m ready for ALL OF IT!! ✨✨✨

Now that I’ve had time to slow down, I’m getting clear on my intentions, boundaries and goals. So, I decided to spend this #noreaster weekend creating a vision board for Q4. My favorite part of the process isn’t just the creating, but the discovering. Finding signs and messages between the pages (hence why pre-made vision board books aren’t my thing — BUT whatever helps YOU start, go for it!). I think I’ll do one of these every quarter. Anyone down to do it with me? If so I may start a group…🧐

Also, LOVING the #ADifferentWorld on @netflix! It’s the perfect backdrop for reaching back and dreaming forward. Go binge it NEEEOW! Congrats @feliciapride!

‼️QOTD: Do social impact advocates / advocacy orgs have an obligation to resist or refuse the use of their image/branding on AI-generated marketing assets (flyers, signage, etc)?

This is a question I’ve been wrestling with after seeing a couple of recent instances, and especially as the owner of a comms agency working predominantly in the social impact sector. The responses to NHJ’s latest NYT feature has been both illuminating and deeply disheartening! So much of the discourse online has been reductive because online spaces can’t hold the complexities these conversations deserve and require!

As Black parents trying to educate Black children using the very systems and tools designed for their destruction, we do the absolute best we can with the choices, access and lived experiences we’ve been equipped with. If we can’t show one another grace and redirect our energy towards the real culprits, I fear we’ve lost the plot.
