Stole another one from the YouTube to share here, in lieu of recent appearances. Song is “All the same/Blind” from a solo acoustic set back in December 2006 @ Sanctuary Cafe in Gilroy, CA.

#20yearsof “Fly”. I did a gross thing for this, but no insects were harmed during the making of this music video.

Facts:
-they were professional/farmed insects.
-we almost died on our drive back home. 🙏🏽

It’s mostly friends and family here anyway, so, this one’s for you. Just feeling honored, tbh, to have connected with a lot of you thru the sounds we made a couple of decades ago. (Thank you @est4891 for the little reminders thru the years, this song being the most recent. 🙏)

For me personally, it’s hard to admit that it has been a strange relationship with music for about half that time. But I wanted to share a moment, the way it felt back when from our corner of the myspace internet and free Angelfire websites.

The song is called “Skin”, referring to the shell we dress in clothes and faces, the “uncharted spaces” hinting towards an unexplored self or trauma, with vulnerable inquiry towards its surroundings.

I don’t remember the last time I played this song all the way thru. Sloppy-Inspired is what I’m going for, so just go with it. But that’s maybe why it hit me the way it did and at one point in the middle I thought, still singing this? Feeling this? Despair can find you anywhere…

but so can hope.

WARNING: feelings ahead…

I could say so much honestly, and if you know me you know I could go on for days. This rant has already been revised and still I sit here with fears and a million reasons why I shouldn’t share or say anything at all. Being vulnerable didn’t feel as big and scary 20 years ago as it does now.

During this season I’m always a little bit apprehensive to say happy this or happy that, knowing well that half the time it is also a season of reminders of something we’re missing, or something we lost. I don’t know how you perceive the illusion of time, being New Year’s Day and all, but I wish you the best new beginnings, be it today, tomorrow, a week from tomorrow, six months or next year, we’re glad you’re here. Feel free to begin again, and again, and again…

We are grateful we’ve had the honor over the years of sharing music and stage with amazing human beings. This song always haunted me, especially around this time, challenging me, so I felt the need to share. Thank you for your life and music. 🙏🏽 #ryankarazija of Audrey Sessions and #lowroar passed away at the end of October, just a couple of months ago. Our deepest condolences to his family, and to anyone that has lost someone this year.

song: New Year’s Day
