Some stories stay with you long after the conversation ends. Josiah’s is one of them.

In this episode, we explored the challenges of a difficult childhood and the experiences that have shaped the man he is today.

Life doesn’t always give us the easiest beginnings. Sometimes, the people and experiences that shape our early years leave us with a lot to unpack as we grow older. Working through those experiences, finding our own identity and learning what love can look like is a journey in itself.

Josiah’s story is a reminder that our beginnings don’t have to define our endings. There is so much growth that can happen when we begin to understand ourselves, embrace who we are and experience the kind of love that helps us see life differently.

Because sometimes, finding love isn’t just about finding another person. It’s also about discovering parts of yourself you never knew were there, learning what you deserve and becoming more comfortable with the person you are.

Thank you, Josiah, for being willing to share your story with the Rise Riot community. Real conversations like these remind us that behind every person is a story we may never fully know, and that there is so much more to someone than what we see on the surface.

Week³ Squats, 235x3@8

While most of the team are in Melbourne for Nats I had some work to do here. I set up in the mono as I wasn't sure who would be around for a spot, but thanks to the Nexus crew for keeping me safe, always gives me that confidence to grind it out when needed 👌

Making his return back to Powerlifting Platform after OVER 6 YEARS away!

@hummus_power smashed this 240kg Deadlift

It was great fun to prep him into this and dust out the cobwebs he’s now shaking and baking things up with his nutrition taking his performance to a whole new level and ending 2026 strong!

Finishing off prep with a very solid PR🔥🔥

Can never go wrong with @a7.oceania knee sleeves, by far the best quality I’ve used and I wouldn’t settle for anything less 💪.

Without a doubt this is the best my squats have ever felt, I know there’s another 5-10kg waiting for me on the day. Confidence is at an all time high to smash PR’s across the board as I taper into @aplpowerlifting nationals.

As always thanks for the lads spotting 🔥.

It’s officially been one year since I started working as a personal trainer!

What a rollercoaster it’s been. When I first started, I was terrified. Working for myself, taking on clients, writing programs and having people trust me with their training was exciting, but I constantly questioned whether I was good enough.

There was so much to learn not just about training, but about running a business, communicating with different people, adapting to different goals and learning how to actually coach the person, not just write a program. Looking back at everything that’s happened, I’m incredibly proud.

Watching people become stronger, more confident and genuinely start enjoying the gym has been one of the most rewarding parts of this job. I’ve had two clients step onto the competition platform, watched people achieve goals they’ve worked towards for months, and had so many moments where I’ve thought, “holy shit, I actually get to do this as my job.”

The people I’ve coached have taught me just as much as I’ve taught them, and learning how to coach the person rather than just the program has been one of the biggest lessons of this first year.

The second half of this year was much harder than I expected. Losing my brother Rory completely changed everything. He wasn’t just my brother, but my best friend and my original mentor. He believed in me, supported me becoming a PT and was genuinely proud of what I was building.

I’m so grateful he got to see the beginning of this journey, but I wish more than anything that he was still here to see this milestone.

I also want to thank Will. I’ve gained an unreal amount of knowledge with Will by my side, and he’s helped shape me into the trainer I am today. I’m incredibly grateful for everything he’s taught me and continues to teach me.

And to everyone else I’ve tagged and even those I haven’t thank you so fucking much. Whether it was through a podcast, a conversation, advice, something you shared or simply believing in me, you’ve probably had a much bigger impact on me than you realise. ❤️

Im still learning and still figuring out what kind of coach I want to become.

One year down. A lifetime to go. ❤️

This right here is why we started this business. To be able to rock up to Josiah’s local jump spot to hand over this beautiful bike….I think his face says it all!
