Here’s one of the more wild places I’ve photographed while exploring the American Southwest. It’s hard to represent the scale of this formation in its magnitude. I had to vertically stitch together several images since my wide angle lens couldn’t fit the whole thing in frame. It looks inescapable but a small staircase chiseled into the rock face allowed for safe ascent from the pit.

The Subway top-down route is the perfect introduction to canyoneering. A few short rappels into chilly water lead you through the Left Fork of North Creek in Zion National Park. It’s a phenomenal experience and great for anyone looking to try a technical canyon.
