Meet Hüseyin Aldırmaz. 📸

An Istanbul-based photographer and educator whose street photography explores the visual language of light, shadow and space.

Born in 1975, Hüseyin has spent years photographing Istanbul's layered streets and cities around the world, looking beyond the obvious to reveal details that often go unnoticed.

His approach is not simply about capturing a moment. It is about developing a practice of seeing — understanding how limitations, light, space and observation can shape a personal visual language.

As a Fujifilm X-Photographer, Hüseyin also shares this approach through workshops and photowalks. His Practice of Seeing workshops take photographers through 12 different routes and historic districts of Istanbul, combining technical knowledge with creative exploration.

His photographic projects include Unmanned, Istanbul Perspective, Chiaroscuro, 35mm and Flaneur.

In May 2026, his photography book Dystopia was published, adding another chapter to his ongoing exploration of the city and the photographic image.
Look at the light.
Then look again.

frayme of the Week: Across the Table
.
There is something about a board game that strips everything back. No performance. No small talk to fill the silence. Just people leaning in, thinking, laughing, losing, trying again.
The photographers in this weeks curation caught that. Not the games themselves but what happens around them. The concentration on a face. Two hands reaching for the same piece. A moment where nobody is thinking about where they come from or where they are going.
.
Different cities. Different tables. Different games. But sit with these images long enough and the geography stops mattering. Across the table, everyone speaks the same language.
That is what this curation is really about. Not board games. The fact that humans have always found ways to sit down together.
.
Huge thanks to our curator @sereneteo_stillpictures for bringing this one to life, and to our featured photographers.
