A little @huskrestaurant inspiration from back in 2016 after my stage. @ansonmills Carolina Gold Crab Fried Rice, made right here in Huntington, WV, during my days as sous chef at 21 at the Frederick.

Welcome to Husk in Charleston, South Carolina!

This was rated top places to eat in my research and also while asking foodie friends where to go. Nobody skipped on recommending this establishment! For good reason!

One of my favorite meals in Charleston and for sure my favorite dinner selection.

What did we order in depth? Let’s take a look:
Beverages:
Chasing Shade - Tarragon Tequila, Chareau, Watermelon, Lime & Agave
Charleston Dragon’s Punch - 1792 Rum Punch from the Preservation Society Archives
Whiskey for Breakfast - Bourbon, Coconut, Angostura Amaro, Bitters, Orange Shrub

For Firsts:
BBQ Beef Ribs - Husk BBQ Sauce, Peanuts, Cilantro, Aji Dulce Peppers

Hard choice between this and the Braised Pork Belly

For Supper:
Split the Chatel Farms Pastrami Brisket - Charred Cabbage, Smoked Cheddar, Beef Fat Bordelaise

For Dessert:
Limoncello - Dessert Drink - Lemon Peels, Lemon Agrumato
Seasonal Scoop of Scuppernog Sherbet

Fantastic service, fast and delicious food and excellent cocktails. We really enjoyed our experience from the moment we walked in.

Following in the footsteps of the legend himself. 🧳🕊️✨

If you know me you know that Anthony Bourdain holds a special space in my heart and soul. When he brought Parts Unknown to Charleston, his mandatory stop was Husk Restaurant, so I knew that it had to be one of ours as well. He famously praised it for completely redefining Southern food while fiercely respecting the traditions and people who created it.
After experiencing it firsthand, it’s safe to say the hype is entirely real. We completely intended to sit right where Tony and Bill Murray sat, but without a reservation, those hopes were dashed as the main restaurant was completely full.
Thankfully, we decided to take our chances and inquire about a spot in their detached bar building—which is actually the property’s original historic carriage house. Honestly? It was a total blessing in disguise. The exposed brick walls, dim lighting, and rich history gave us the full vibe we relish in and the ultimate cozy, spontaneous dining experience.

While we skipped the picture here, do not skip this in person! We have to talk about the appetizer: it was our very first time trying Fried Green Tomatoes with pimento cheese dip, and it was bowl-licking fantastic. An absolute must try!🤤

We then kicked off our meal with a gorgeous Southern Meat & Cheese board showcasing local Broadbent Country Ham, before diving straight into their legendary fried chicken and double cheeseburger (two things you absolutely cannot leave without trying). My companion decided while in the South, one must experience a mint julep. All that was missing there was the rocking chair and porch.
If you’re ever in Charleston, and especially if Tony is also your spirit animal, head to Husk as soon as possible!

Pro Tip: If you can’t score a dining room reservation, don’t stress. Head straight to the carriage house bar for a first-come, first-served experience that feels like a hidden insider secret.

Leaving the Ocracoke after 4 months to come home is bittersweet. Can’t wait to get back to Tampa, but the charm and beauty of the coastal South is amazing. If you get the chance to visit the area take some time to explore the smaller cities and beaches, you won’t be disappointed!
