Last year, we rolled into Ensenada not totally sure what to expect…

Most of us had never built a home from the ground up.
But we showed up. We laughed, we worked, we played soccer in the dirt, and by the end of it, the Molina family had a place to finally exhale.

It was sweaty. Messy. Unforgettable.
We loved every second. So we’re doing it again!

Baja Bound 2025, let’s go!

This post is a week late, but the memories from this epic weekend are still fresh. I think many of us would agree—life’s been a little crazy lately. What better antidote than a weekend getaway with old friends (and a few new ones), good conversation, plenty of laughter, and memory-making?

The Pioneertown Half Marathon was really just the excuse. The race itself was well-produced, with the perfect low-key vibe—everything I love about trail racing.

But beyond the race, the weekend was about connection, joy, and a reminder of what truly matters: the people we choose to surround ourselves with, and the gift of calling them friends.

What a perfect weekend. I’m grateful for all of it. #pioneertown #pioneertownhalfmarathon

And 15+ years later, a bunch of us who met in LA Tri Club wipe the dust from our running shoes (and 50+ year old bones) to meet up in Pioneertown to race again. The need for connection was alive for all of us; we missed the energy, the weekend getaways, commitment to health, and most of all, each other.

Xavier captured it perfectly: “What does home mean to you?”
There’s a concept in biology called homeostasis - fundamental need to find safety, connection, and meaning in an ever-changing environment. And in many ways, that’s what this weekend felt like. No matter where we come from or what we’re going through, time spent with good friends has a way of restoring that inner equilibrium. A reminder that home isn’t just a place, but a feeling created by the right people. Community.

♥️Thank you to those who said yes- OG tri club crew, besties I met through work, and new friends here in Dana Point. I had the BEST time♥️ @johnwaynecancerfoundation
