TBH I did not initially plan on making this body of work. Never underestimate the potential of free FedEx boxes. 🤭 = Makeshift painting rack šŸ’Æ thanks @fedex !

That time I was biking home and spotted this sign outside a little yellow church (that Hopper had also painted). ā›Ŗļø A Hopper lecture at Chapel in The Pines! Coincidence??! I think not… A little sign from the universe šŸ„¹šŸ™šŸ’«

So I go into the church and local art historian/mega Hopper fan Bob Seay gave a great lecture on all the Hopper paintings made at Cape Cod. Although the Hoppers lived in Truro, Bob is convinced how much more Hopper loved Eastham haha ~ you’d be surprised by how many paintings were made there
(According to Jo’s diary, Hopper liked Eastham so much mostly cause it made him think of New Jersey lol).

These dope maps I encountered at the Truro Historical Society. šŸ•µšŸ»ā€ā™€ļøšŸ”ŽšŸ—ŗļø The Outer Cape hand drawn by Josephine Hopper (inspired by her love for Parisian maps, cause she was a Francophile). She would gift them to collectors along with Edward’s Cape paintings. Addin’ a little somethin’ somethin’ ~ Aka 1930s marketing šŸ¤™

This Friday, February 20, our galleries will be filled with work by 55 artists; the opening of the first of two juried exhibitions celebrating our 55th anniversary year at the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center.⁣
⁣
The galleries will be filled with work by artists selected through our national open call and juried by Indira A. Abiskaroon Valbuena.⁣
⁣
This first exhibition, ā€œLine,ā€ marks the beginning of a two-part presentation, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience the depth, range, and distinct voices of this year’s selected artists. Seeing the work together in the house where Edward Hopper first found his way as an artist creates a powerful and unexpected dialogue.⁣
⁣
We invite you to come spend time with the work, move through the galleries, and experience this moment with us.⁣

Thank you to 2026 juror Indira A. Abiskaroon Valbuena (@i_abiskaroon) for reviewing a wide range of beautiful works. For this exhibition, we received a high volume of exceptional submissions. The final selection of 55 artists pays tribute to the Museum’s 55th Anniversary and reflects the juror’s curatorial vision and narrative for each section.
