Happy Father’s Day! Whether you’re a father, step-father, “like-a-father”, grandfather, or father-figure. If it’s biological, through adoption, or merely a choice, the point is you are a hero! Parenting is tough! It doesn’t come with a manuel and you don’t get training for this important responsibility. I am so extremely grateful first, for my amazing father who adopted a newborn baby (me!) not of his own blood and loved, treasured, taught, and sacrificed to the best of his abilities. He showed me strength, courage, discipline and how to play cards, ride a bike and swim! Thank you for being my ROCK and my original super hero. I carry you with me and love you always💕! Secondly, to my husband and father of our daughter…Thank you for being such a loving, hardworking, and dedicated father to our family. We are blessed to have you as our protector, provider, and source of strength. Your love, patience, and sacrifices never go unnoticed. Thank you for always being there for us through good times and challenging days. Karley and Kristin are SO lucky to have a father like you, and I am grateful to walk through life with you by my side. We love you more than words can say. And last-but-not least, to my biological father, although you didn’t raise me, I am so very thankful you have welcomed me into your life and we have such a close bond! I have treasured getting to know you and see all the traits (or quirks🤣) I have inherited from you even though I grew up a world away. You are the most charismatic man I’ve ever met! You light up any room! I could laugh on the phone with you for hours. I cherish our newfound relationship and having you as a dad! Wishing all the dads a wonderful Father’s Day filled with love, happiness, (good food & GOLF 😍) and all the appreciation you truly deserve. -Tomorrow, it’s right back to reality!🥳 #fathersday #dogdad #fatherfigure #adopted

I MET MY BIRTH MOTHER💕. What an incredible Mother’s Day I had flying to OH to meet my incredible birth mother. We’ve been talking for years but it was a dream come true to finally meet and spend time with her. I never realized how healing it would be to know where I come from. Her blood runs through my veins. I see her features in my own face. I share so many of her mannerisms, her sarcasm, her impatience, and her sense of humor. I feel so very blessed to have had wonderful, loving parents who raised me and now that they have passed, I know they have brought us together. I’m grateful to have such close relationships with both my biological father & mother. I also cherish my new siblings. I hope this is just the beginning of lots of fun adventures. I know most adoption stories are downright tragic. I hesitated to even open what I thought would be a painful “can of worms” but it fell right into my lap and my intention was only to say “thank you” and answer any questions they may have had. I didn’t want or expect anything. I hoped they would welcome getting to know me but figured after this much time perhaps that might expose a past that was painful and best left behind. I didn’t expect the huge emotional tidal wave that this journey opened. Nor did I expect the profound healing from trauma I never knew I was carrying. If you are adopted or adopting a child and wish to chat or have questions, I’d love to share my personal experiences. 💕💕

Aloha Soul Flames! 2026 so far… a new chapter 🌺💫
“Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast” – my husband taught me this, and I’m embracing it more than ever.

The past few years were massive change and uprooting. My nervous system was running on fumes. I’m only now truly remembering what restoration feels like.

I’m saying no more than ever so I can say yes to stillness. And I’m discovering that the slower I go, the more I can actually DO—and be present in the joy of doing it.

Being back in Bali, re-rooting in our land and our NaiAsa work, has been clarifying. We launched our monthly Medicine of Flow Circles (free! Join us 2/22!).

We’ve been dancing, nurturing soul connections, and slowing down through this rainy season.

My biggest focus for 2026 is completing The Goddess Brain book. A dear mentor told me: “This book cannot be written from speed, fear, or stress. It must be written from JOY.”

It feels counterintuitive to slow down when the world feels urgent. But I know she’s right.

So I’m committed to FEELING the joy—of being alive, in service, mothering, moving, learning, praying. Joy as a moment-by-moment practice of discipline and devotion.

Grateful for this season of stability. Grateful for ancestors, guides, and the wisdom that teaches us: slowing down IS the power. Being present IS the medicine. Being LOVE is the answer.

(And maybe I’m slowing down because Fire Horse year is going to have us galloping soon enough 🔥🐴)

Swipe through for glimpses of this slower, more rooted season—dancing, land, community, Sekai teaching (‼️), and some beautiful words from our community 💛

Who can relate? Comment SLOW or JOY to claim this intention with me! 🙌🏼

Big Love from Bali! 🌺

My adoption journey continues with my recent trip to Quito, Ecuador. Here I had the pleasure to meet my fun and talented 1/2 sister Emma, her BF, @diegooquendosanchez and my wonderful nephew @sunny_emilio and niece @alegria.cbc. -And their beautiful dog Ficka stole my heart too! Emma got father’s artistic talent and is an amazing painter! She loves to paint people, pups, angels and COWS! I will treasure the art we painted together one rainy evening. She showed us her beautiful hometown of Quito with fabulous markets, cathedrals and Villa Emma where she lived with papa. Her BF has a popular radio show in Ecuador and took us to some of the best restaurants the city has to offer. I had the best potato soup and all the other specialties they ordered which I can’t remember the names. My niece is extremely creative and hopes to study fashion design at university next year. My nephew is working at a law firm in town while finishing his law degree. He is a dead-ringer for a young Val Kilmer. We stayed at a lovely historic hotel right off the Plaza in the historic district. You can hear the church bells every morning and the bustle of tourists. At times this doesn’t seem real. I feel like I’m living a dream and can’t process what’s happening in real time. It is a miracle beyond anything I could’ve imagined to meet such incredible people and find out they’re my FAMILY! Most people are lucky to have one good family or even family member! I have the lovely family that I was raised in and now 2 more! I am having such fun and now that I’ve returned to “sea-level” (Quito altitude is a Killer and I could barely get up 20 steps without an inhaler 🤪)I can relive all the fun and laughs. Thank you to my newfound family for showing us such an unforgettable time! 💝💝💝#quito #adoptionreunion #adopted #backtothefuture #sisters @hotelplazagrandeuio @goquitohotel @elpajonalrestaurante

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! As much as I love all the decorations, and music, I am more annoyed by the crowds, the pace, and this inner Grinch telling me I suck at this holiday stuff! I feel like there’s way too much to do and no time to do it in. My gifts are never good. My wrapping isn’t creative, blah, blah, blah HUMPUG! Before I even got the trash taken out from Thanksgiving, WHAM! It’s, Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday and Hanukkah.

This week’s blog offers 5 simple things you can do to stop the whirlwind and bring joy (and health) back to your holiday season. And what’s good for your stress, carries right over to your pets. This time of year, we need to lean on them to help ground us and remind us what’s most important.
Thanks for reading. Deep breaths!
Pugs and kisses!

I recently had the most magical experience of a lifetime traveling with my family to Morroco to meet my biological father.
Speaking on the phone each week is much different than an in-person visit. There aren’t any “rules” or protocols on this kind of thing and we were both nervous we might disappoint the other. This journey could’ve gone sideways on so many levels but luckily, from start to finish, it unfolded perfectly.

My mom and dad who raised me, loved me and gave me everything have passed away, and it’s such a blessing to now have close relationships with my biological father and mother. AND, as an added bonus, I got to spend time with my incredible half-sister and her family.

We hit-it-off famously and it was healing in ways I didn’t know needed healing.
I am awestruck by my birth father and his many accomplishments. He is one of the funniest, smartest, best conversationalists as well as a world-famous painter whose works are featured top museums and galleries. In addition, Francisco is a talented musician. He has the spirit and energy of those half his age. He doesn’t leave a restaurant without meeting every diner. He is quite a celebrity in Tangier.
Although I grew up in a completely different environment, I see that in so many ways I’m my father’s daughter. We have so many similar quirks and mannerisms.

After laughing with joy all week, I cried all the way home. I am so filled with gratitude and excitement for the beginning of this new, very special journey.

November is National Adoption month. What a perfect time to celebrate my treasured newfound family. (And of course, my adopted Pug Olive!) Happy Thanksgiving 🍁
