Between @hollyhumberstone’s debut album, ‘Paint My Bedroom Black,’ and her recently released sophomore album, ‘Cruel World,’ a lot has shifted. “This past year and a half, I’ve rediscovered bits of me that used to be so integral to who I am,” the musician tells V.

When it comes to songwriting, her creative world has expanded. For ‘Cruel World,’ Humberstone approached the process “with an open mind” and “learned to take it less seriously.” In shaping the visual aesthetic for the new album, Humberstone collaborated with her sister alongside Creative Director Silken Weinberg. “I wanted it to feel like this fantasy world inspired by everything that I used to love as a kid,” she explains.

With performances at major festivals lined up this year, along with a North American tour, there seems to be no slowing down for Humberstone—and she prefers it that way. Read her full V Girls feature from our latest V160 issue at the link in bio.

Dinner With Strangers was back in Brooklyn on Thursday, and I’m still buzzing from the night. These smaller dinners are such a treat, and feel like the early days of this project: intimate sharing elbow room and conversations that can meander and linger.

Danielle from @thefolklorehouse nourished us with a meal made from veggies from her garden, and infused everything with so much love and care.

Every group brings their own magic, and with this dinner, there were themes about thriving in chaos and welcoming in more calm, and the paradox of setting goals and finding solace in the uncertainty.

I learn something about the world at each dinner, something about what it means to be human, and something new about myself, all through the stories that unfold at the table. Thank you to everyone who came to dinner and made this conversation so special!

It means the world to bring this project to a city I love and don’t live in, and I can’t wait to be back. Brooklyn has my heart 🥹✨
