Last week, we had the honor of hosting an online conversation about the changing landscape of sexual exploitation, the rise of digital exploitation, and how Treasures is continuing to evolve as we walk alongside the women we serve. We were so encouraged to see how everyone came ready to listen, engage, and ask thoughtful, intentional questions. Your questions sparked important conversations and even though the landscape may be changing, we are filled with hope because we are seeing more people become aware to the realities at hand and equipped to make a lasting impact. Whether you’ve been part of the movement for a long time or you’re just getting introduced to these topics, we believe this is a conversation for everyone. If you weren’t able to join us live, you can now watch the reply on Youtube! Click the link below or in our bio to watch today! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5uXMc7jPsA&t=3736s Thank you to everyone who joined and helped make this such a thoughtful and meaningful time together. #Treasures #BetterTogether #EndItMovement #AwarenessToAction #SupportSurvivors

Sharing a story about trauma isn't just emotional. It's physical. When survivors retell their experiences, the nervous system can reactivate as if the event is happening all over again. Doing that repeatedly, without a clear purpose beyond the pain, comes at a real personal cost. Harmony Dust has spent more than 27 years working directly with women impacted by trafficking and exploitation. In this episode of Team Protectors, she breaks down what ethical survivor storytelling actually looks like. What do you want your audience to know? What do you want them to do? And how do you make sure the story centers on resilience and hope rather than reactivating the very trauma it's trying to address? Survivor stories can change minds. They can also become re-exploitative when the focus stays on the hardest parts instead of healing and restoration. Watch the full episode and share it with anyone working alongside survivors. #TeamProtectors #SafeHouseProject

We see the stories. We hear what survivors have endured. We recognize the systems that have failed to protect them, and wonder, “What can I possibly do?” Witnessing injustice without knowing what to do can leave us feeling powerless, which can cause us to fall into inaction. At Treasures, we believe there is another choice: action. We may not be able to fix everything but we can choose to show up and make sure that when a survivor reaches out for support, there is someone there to answer. One way you can take action today is by becoming a monthly partner with Treasures. Did you know that a gift of just $48.75/month can help one woman access our survivor-led support groups for six months? You can be a vital part of a woman’s healing journey today! To make a gift today, simply click the link in our profile. Now, we know that money is tight for a lot of us right now, but there are other ways you can make a difference, so join us for Coffee and Conversations with Harmony and Zaina to connect with our team, hear updates about current events, and learn what’s on the horizon for Treasures. 🗓️ September 16 ⏰ 12 PM PST / 3 PM EST 💻 Zoom 🔗 Register at the link in our bio Let’s choose action. Together. #Treasures #SurvivorSupport #EndExploitation #SurvivorHealing #TakeAction

We often think healing comes from doing “the work,” and it does, but it can feel daunting. While healing does take a lot of personal and internal work, sometimes healing looks like giving yourself permission to pause. When you’ve spent a long time carrying trauma, you may not even recognize how much it’s affecting you. You might keep pushing, stay busy, overthink, disconnect, or feel like you always need to be “on.” The truth is, you don’t have to wait until you’re completely spent and overwhelmed to care for your nervous system. Small moments of intentional pause can help you begin noticing what your body needs and practice responses that create a greater sense of safety, steadiness, and connection. That’s why our founder, Harmony Dust, created the FREE Simple Nervous System Reset Guide. Inside, you’ll find 10 gentle practices designed to help you pause, reconnect with yourself, and support your nervous system without adding a complicated task to your day. Download your free copy of the Simple Nervous System Reset Guide today by clicking the link in our profile. #Treasures #NervousSystem #TraumaRecovery #HealingAfterTrauma #FromSurvivingToThriving

What if some of what we’ve been told about supporting survivors and how to help is actually making it harder to help? While it may be shared with good intentions, there’s a lot of misinformation within our own movement. Sometimes it sounds like: “They could just leave.” “Why would they stay?” “If they had a way out, they’d take it.” But when we reduce someone’s experience to a simple choice, we miss the complex psychological, emotional, and relational realities that can keep someone stuck. And when we misunderstand what keeps someone in a situation, even our best intentions can fall short. That’s why we created our free training, “How Do You Help Someone Who’s Stuck?” In this training, we’ll unpack: ▶️ Why simply having the opportunity to escape the industry is not enough. ▶️ Common psychological chains that lead to staying ▶️ The crucial step a recovery journey has to include If we want to truly support survivors, we have to be willing to rewrite the narratives that don’t tell the whole story. Take the free training and learn how to better understand, reach, and support the people we’re trying to serve. You never know what a simple act of kindness can blossom into. What started with a stack of postcards and a heart to share the simple message that “You are loved, valued, purposed, and treasured” has grown into a community of hope, healing, and support for hundreds of women every single year. Treasures wasn’t started from a grand plan, it began with one person willing to say “yes” and show up with compassion. We’re so grateful for where this journey has taken us. For the incredible women we’ve had the honor of walking alongside, and all of the staff, volunteers, donors, and partners who have made it possible. Together, we are making a difference!
