This week’s Midweek Mobility Tip looks a little different. We’re stepping away from physical movement on the yoga mat to recognize another kind of movement. Movement of the heart. The generosity of giving. The power of community. At Move Your Body Yoga, we believe movement should never be limited by what someone has or doesn’t have. No return. No explanation. Two years ago, Lauren visited our studio after a long workday without workout clothes. One sentence has stayed with me: “I can tell the culture of the studio stems from love.” And that is exactly what we’ve always hoped people would feel when they walk through our doors. Sometimes mobility isn’t about how far we stretch or how deeply we move into a posture. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜 In our little corner of the world at Move Your Body Yoga, we believe wellness extends far beyond the yoga mat. It’s about more than movement, strength, and finding your breath. It’s about feeling safe, being heard, knowing your worth, and having a community that cares. This month, we stand with those experiencing domestic abuse, honor the courage of survivors, remember the lives lost, and acknowledge the families and friends whose lives have also been affected. We never truly know what someone may be carrying behind closed doors. A little compassion, a listening ear, and support without judgment can mean more than we realize. Beyond the Mat. Right Into the Heart of Our Community. 💚 What a beautiful Saturday morning in Baton Rouge! Yesterday, Move Your Body Yoga had the pleasure of sponsoring and participating in NAMIWalks Louisiana, and what a wonderful reminder of why community, connection, and mental wellness matter so much. The first taste of cooler fall weather, a beautiful walk, familiar faces, new friendships, and a community coming together for a meaningful cause. It was simply splendid! At Move Your Body Yoga, we know that what happens on the mat reaches far beyond it. Yes, we practice yoga, but we also learn to find our breath, build strength, create space for ourselves, and sometimes simply be still. And yesterday reminded us that we can find those same things outside the studio. In a walk. In a conversation. In a shared laugh. In the simple act of showing up for one another. It was especially meaningful to see members of our own Move Your Body Yoga community walking alongside us. And meeting so many wonderful people, organizations, vendors, and fellow sponsors made the morning even more special. Mental wellness deserves our attention, our compassion, and our continued support. Not just yesterday, but every day. Thank you to NAMI Louisiana for bringing our community together and giving us another opportunity to move with purpose. We came to support a cause. This week, we’re moving into the Throat Chakra — Vishuddha, and at its core, this week is about finding and honoring your voice. Not just the voice you use to speak out loud. It’s also about being able to say what you mean, ask for what you need, listen without immediately preparing a response, and recognize when something needs to be said — and when silence is actually the more intentional choice. We’ll explore communication through movement and breath, creating space through the neck, shoulders, chest and upper body. But the physical practice is really an invitation to notice something deeper: Am I communicating from a place that is true to me? You don’t have to be the loudest person in the room for your voice to matter. You don’t have to explain everything. And you don’t have to have the perfect words. Sometimes honoring your voice sounds like yes. Sometimes it sounds like no. Sometimes it sounds like I need help. Sometimes it sounds like I don’t know yet. And sometimes it means getting quiet enough to actually listen. That’s where we’re going this week. I speak my truth. I listen. I communicate with intention. My voice matters.

Curate has created something special—a space where women can learn, lead, connect, grow, build, care for themselves, and be reminded that we do not have to separate who we are from how we work, lead, and live. Through movement, breath, and intentional moments of pause, we had the opportunity to create space for women to come back to themselves—to move their bodies, settle their minds, and simply breathe. Because wellness belongs in these rooms, too. What a beautiful feature for Move Your Body Yoga. 💚💙💛 Southern University senior and former Jaguar baseball player Kameron Byrd chose Move Your Body Yoga as the subject of an assignment for his Sports Writing class — and what he created was such a thoughtful reflection of our studio and our community. Kameron is completing his degree in Mass Communication/Broadcasting this December, and if this piece is any indication of what’s ahead for him, we are excited to watch his journey. A Sunday morning well spent. 🌿 This past Sunday, Move Your Body Yoga returned to the Crowne Plaza Baton Rouge for our second session, this one affectionately called, Grounding Hour—an 8:30 AM practice centered around movement, breath, rest, and simply being present. There was something special about practicing outside—the warmth of the sun, the trees surrounding us, the fresh air, the beautiful poolside setting, and a community of people choosing to begin their Sunday by moving their bodies and making space for wellness. What a treat. A special thank you to Crowne Plaza Baton Rouge for inviting Move Your Body Yoga back and creating such a beautiful space for our community to gather. And the post-practice refreshments, charcuterie and hydration were exactly what we needed after an hour on the mat. I’m also incredibly grateful for the continued support of our local lululemon Baton Rouge store on Perkins Road. As a lululemon Ambassador, I value the opportunity to work alongside a brand that invests in movement, wellness and community. Our guests were treated to some wonderful door prizes—including two lululemon yoga mats and three water bottles. And Move Your Body Yoga added a little something of our own—a wellness package inviting one of our guests to continue that experience with us inside the studio. But my favorite part is still the simplest one: We gathered. We breathed. We moved. We spent a beautiful Sunday morning together. Thank you to every person who joined us on the mat. These are the moments that remind me why community will always be at the heart of Move Your Body Yoga. Move. Breathe. Glow.

The RESET: A Women’s Wellness Experience, presented by Smartwater, brought Southern University women student-athletes together for an evening dedicated to wellness, recovery, self-care and community. We moved. We breathed. We reflected. We hydrated. And we created space for these young women to slow down, listen to their bodies and simply reset. My message to them was simple: You do not have to carry everything into what comes next. Release what doesn’t belong. Make room for what does. A special thank you to Southern University Athletics, Smartwater and Baton Rouge Coca-Cola Bottling Company for bringing this experience to life. Smartwater kept our athletes hydrated and provided yoga mats and swag bags, while Stretch Zone supported recovery, DJ King Fred brought the energy, and Good Molecules added some self-care goodies. Move Your Body Yoga was honored to lead the yoga and reflection experience and send the ladies home with a little MYBY swag of their own. What a beautiful way to celebrate and support the whole athlete — body, mind and soul. Breathe. Release. Reset.
