9.18 - Happy Birthday to ME & happy FIRST birthday to #MILLENNIALSYMPHONY!! 🤩💿💕💫

In the most #VIRGOAT of fashions, I released my long-developing, self-produced 3rd album on my BDay last year. It’s my most passionate project out of my entire catalog bcuz it took me nearly a decade to complete, & every ounce of who I am is steeped into every musical crevice.

Thematic works are my thing & it was incredibly important for me to create something meaningful that spoke about things other than love. Cuz me & every fellow 30 something that I knew was dealing with shit BEYOND that. Like, what about my bills? What about the life that was promised to me after college? What about expectations vs reality? What about fear of change? What about depression & anxiety? & then yes, what about love? lol As an artist, I deeply value being reflective of my personal experiences & I wanted to create something that spoke to the full totality of what it means to be balancing life as both a grown Millennial child & creative in this world.

This album almost did NOT happen for a multitude of reasons 🫠 But by the grace of God & grit, it made it out into the world! While I’ve spent a good portion of this last yr beating myself up over what I could’ve done better, lack of reach, lead up time, marketing budget, algorithm qualms & the overwhelming stress doing EVERYTHING myself, I do have to pat myself on the back bcuz look at everything I DID accomplish! First fuggin TOUR. First headlining LA show. & most importantly, the beautiful connectivity that it HAS reached with so many ppl. & for alladat, I could NOT be more grateful 🙏🏾

Supreme shout outs to all the features of my friends & family for their amazing contributions, & a million buckets of love & gratitude to my other half @roscoe_duffy for mixing/mastering & embarking on the journey of sonic completion with me 🫶🏾

I have SO much more life to live & continue breathing into this project, yall. & my 4ever BDay wish is for anybody peeping this to BUY it, stream it, share with somebody that gets it, no matter their age. There’s something for everyone, so anybody can get into it, YUH 🙌🏾

RED DAYS opens tomorrow at Pink's Accessible Theater House. sound design by yours truly

when we picked this script for our fall production, we had not yet had the record breaking terrible air quality that hit wisconsin this summer. this play hits at a lot of things that will resonate with people: apathy, the desire to live without harm from your environment, a struggling mother-daughter relationship, and how to use your platform.

central to this story is a DJ that spins records thruout the show. lots of the small sections of music are mine, but something that was important to me going into this project was to work with and pay real artists that exist in this world, and weave their music into the story. we are a small theater company and can't do much, but everyone who has worked on this project has told me they loved the music choice. a list of the songs will be available in the program, but i wanted to shoutout all of these artists for letting me have the opportunity to utilize their work and get it in front of some new audiences. from milwaukee legends to up and comers, here's who you'll hear at some point during performances:

We had a great time at @thecr8tvhouse 2026 Joy On The Block party this past weekend!! ❤️🎉 Thank you Symphony, Josh & all the folks who made this event possible. It’s beautiful to see community, art and neighborhood support come together.

Joy on the Block brought the neighbors and other members of the community out. It was truly beautiful to witness. The music carried across the area and became the invitation for everyone to come and have a good time.

The goal wasn’t to sell the community anything or overly offer resources, there is a lot of events already designed to do that.

The vision was to simply create moments for folks to connect, human to human.

We used food, art and vibes to do that.

We had @gloomyfawn.art leading chalk murals, @sun_seekermke providing community education, @karma_community_garden doing face painting,
Tina King bounce house for jumping joy,
@daddoulauniversity connecting with families!
@djlolo_mke kept the music going - even taught a neighbor and the kids how to DJ,
@iamklassik providing the hits and
@artistfkajuju from @drums_up_guns_down_414 with the interactive African drumming!

The CR8TV HOUSE had a watercolor table and all the kids enjoyed themselves.

Kentrell Washington had a mental health table and invited folks to assess their anxiety while also sharing mental health support resources.

Can’t forget about @nextdoormke and their donated books for the kiddos.
@beycenter art kits were a hit as well!

Yall already know how I feel about my Virgo King 🥹♍️

How beautiful of a creative legacy one must have for the world to still feel the impact of ur art both during & long after ur presence on earth. As a lifelong fan, I’ve always absorbed as much of his work as I can, but as an artist — specifically a VIRGO artist, I study & strive for the amount of tenacity, aspiration & creative quality control that he demonstrated. I hark so much about him & Bey bein at the helm bcuz I think that Virgo musicians truly live in a prison of our own perfectionism. But the result is always impeccable & nobody understands what it truly takes to get there but us. & then we lather/rinse/repeat the stress 😅 Michael dedicated his entire existence to his artistic vision & I can’t fathom another human being ever having that great of an influence on the entire world.

True to fashion, I’ve been covering/uncovering him my whole life, but here are a few select clips from the span of the last 15ish yrs, in no particular order:

The Human Tour has been such a revealing thing for me. I think it’s divine that Dolly passed on the part of tour where I’m in some of the places I’ve called home. I never got to meet Dolly in this lifetime but I’ve felt her influence in so many real ways. When I first moved to Nashville I joked about how we hadn’t meet but how I was halfway there living in Nashville with my big boobs 😂 In all seriousness, I mourn the passing of this sparkly giant in this realm but welcome her as ancestor in the spiritual realm-Thanks @solomondorseymusic for that beautiful perspective. So now as tour rolls on from my home state, Wisconsin, to Ravinia where I spent every Saturday of my senior year of high school taking lessons at @musicinstituteofchicago The Academy and then on to my current hometown of Nashville- I’m embracing those who have chosen to walk alongside me. I’m remembering the lessons I’ve learned in all of these places and I’m inspired to be the best version of myself so that when it’s my turn to leave this earth I could leave it better than I found it. The greatest legacy is love. May every note of this tour be a blessing to the ears it falls on and may we all follow in the footsteps of Dolly and advocate for each other in very real and tangible ways.

About last night...

A few early edits from the 4th Annual Emmitt James Big Band Barbeque (@ejbigbandbbq ) — which filled the Turner Hall ballroom and showcased some of Milwaukee's finest and most dedicated artists, all on one stage.

So much love for these musicians, this collaboration, and the community that's been supported and built around it.

Massively grateful to Emmitt (@emmitt_james ) for bringing us all together and for bringing me into the mix again this year 🙏🏻
