There comes a point when a word is used so often it starts to lose its meaning. Chic is one of those words. Originating in France and making its way into the English lexicon by the 1860s, 'chic' went from describing a certain kind of Parisian finesse to becoming fashion’s catch-all adjective for anything deemed stylish. Clearly, we can all benefit from expanding our vocab. At the link bio, @lara.daly asks some local fashion writers what words they're reaching for instead.

Last Friday we presented ‘Song to the Siren’, our Spring/Summer 26/27 collection, at Ōkahu Bay for New Zealand Fashion Week. Beginning at the water’s edge, the collection unfolded as a journey from sea to shore. It was an exploration of sailors and sirens, the wildness of kelp, life beneath the surface and the elemental meeting of ocean and land. A huge thank you to everyone who supported ZAMBESI: Song to the Siren and helped us bring our creative runway vision to life. We’re especially grateful to our incredible brand partners whose support, belief and collaboration made this show possible. Your contribution allowed us to push the boundaries of our creative vision and create a runway experience that we’re incredibly proud of.
