I literally didn’t think anyone would show up. 🥹

Once, when I was 20, I threw a big Facebook invite out to come to dinner to celebrate my birthday. At the time, Facebook invites were new and I didn’t understand that many people would respond “yes” and never show. I booked a table of 20 and almost no one showed up. It was mortifying 🤣

This year, andrea said she would book a dinner but couldn't join and I wasn't sure anyone would show up for me (although @specialk889 and @ianthomeskander have never let me down or be alone on my birthday ❤️🥹).

This was a big moment.

New(ish) to Texas and even so….
Some of the best people in the city showed up to celebrate me at my favorite place.

They kept having to upgrade our table ❤️

We went around in a circle and everyone told me a reason they like me🥹❤️🥹❤️

What an incredible full circle moment.

So grateful for @artistandrealjacobson and all these people for showing up. So many brought gifts so I can remember and feel their love with me when I can’t be with them.

Incredibly grateful and honored to call these people good friends.

From my soft squishy cancer heart to yours- I love you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Will add special shoutouts shortly. (At a concert)
(Also@sorry for the crops- they wouldn’t all fit!!!)

We had a lovely time communing with everyone at our first ever @spacec7 pop up at Blue Star ⭐️ for “Another Sweet Group Show no. 2,” curated by @jefwheel. And “Growing Pains,” a solo show from @sadistsloth.

Thanks to everyone who came out and to celebrate thee @robertaninahassele with us. Unfortunately our musical guest @_baldemar_ & friends got rained out last night, and we all know what else happened 🥺…

However we will be rescheduling some music and wins during our tenure this June. Have a beautiful weekend and thanks for playing. See y’all next time. 🤍⚡️💥✨🤍

🎬 SANDS OF FATE

⭐ Star Wars Fan Film

Tiro, an ex-Imperial Commando surviving as a recluse in the Outer Rim port of Anchorhead, is challenged to resurrect the warrior within...

Where do you even start with this one?
At some point a fan film stops feeling like a fan film, and Sands of Fate from 2023 more than crosses that line. This clip from a cantina scene alone, the moody gun nudging, the costumes, the lighting, the photography, the voices, just next level. Everything is considered, everything is perfectly executed.

The production quality is genuinely off the scale for a non-profit fan production.

This is from the same team who made one of my favourite fan-films Birth of Monster, which you should also check out if you havn't already. Both of these are just stunning original productions from start to finish.

Hard to pick just one clip from this, so there will definitely be more featured here later. In the meantime, watch it in full widescreen and give it the 5 stars it deserves on FanFilmEmpire.com. 🙏

🎬 BIRTH OF A MONSTER

⭐ Star Wars Fan Film

What makes a great fan film? For me, it's one that enriches the universe rather than trying to rewrite it. Birth of a Monster from 2019 does exactly that — taking an obscure corner of Star Wars lore and crafting a story of discovery and friendship around a mysterious boy and his droid on Tatooine, whose fate will echo through generations.

The practical model making, costumes, puppetry and attention to detail are extraordinary, giving this film a tactile, handcrafted soul that feels right at home in the Star Wars universe. All aspects of this perfectly short film are beautifully handled, from cinematography to sound, it can't be faulted. Just brilliant.

This film is a special one for me. When my kids were young and obsessed with Star Wars, we'd spend hours trawling YouTube trying to find great fan films — with wildly mixed results. No way to filter, no way to know what was worth watching. Then we stumbled across Birth of a Monster and were completely wowed. It was THIS film that planted the seed for FanFilmEmpire.com — a place where fans could find, rate, review and discover the very best fan films, all in one place (and also have fun dipping into the silly ones too!).
