Thank you to our Saturday morning volunteers from @ochsnerhealth! The team assembled 2,950 sets of NOLA greeting cards and postcards for the @kreweofiris parade. 🌸💌

Special thanks to @iatse478 for lending us our newest space for assembly! We’re thrilled to have such a cool spot to host larger volunteer groups anytime of the day.

Come volunteer with us—it’s simple, seated, and social! Our volunteer calendar is getting busy, but we still need lots of help getting ready for Carnival 2027. 🎭

DM or email us at info@groundskrewe.org to get your group involved!

LET’S TAKE BACK THE POWER! On Saturday, October 3, meet the school board candidates and hold them accountable!

This election on November 3 will decide the next four years (and beyond) of the Jefferson Parish Public Schools System. It is necessary we ask candidates hard hitting questions and demand accountability.

You can meet members of parties and local voting rights organizations to get involved and learn more about civic engagement! This event is for every one of all ages, so bring a friend, a family member, a colleague, etc.!

My good friend, @kellye007 , @iatse478 member was recently diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. The cancer has spread to her lungs and bones.

Right now, the best thing we can do for her is help ease the financial burden. She’s unable to work, and believe me…if she could, she would. This woman would work 7 days a week if you let her. But right now, her job is simply getting through each day.

If you’re able, please consider donating to her GoFundMe or sharing her story. (If you’d like to share this post, just let me know and I’ll send it to you.)

If all you can spare is the cost of a coffee, consider sending her $5 instead. When a community comes together, those small acts of kindness add up in a big way. 🫶🏼

Big news this week: Workers at Swaybox Studios in New Orleans have voted to join the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), securing union representation through a National Labor Relations Board election and marking one of the largest film and television organizing victories in the union’s recent history.

Swaybox is currently working on a Warner Bros. Pictures Animation feature with a budget of approximately $90 million. As a result, this victory represents one of the largest organizing drives in film and television production undertaken by IATSE in recent years and expands union representation into an area of animation where workers have long lacked industry-standard protections.

The newly organized bargaining unit includes 136 workers, a number expected to grow significantly as Swaybox moves deeper into production on current and future projects.

“The only effective answer to organized greed is organized labor” - Thomas Donahue. Thanks to @justicestudiesuno and @iatse478 for allowing me to contribute some art… which is far too small an offering for far too great a cause. #mayday #maydaynola #fairworkplace #internationalworkersday #workersunited
