My heart is so full of poetry and the beauty of it on the first day of the @dodgefoundation Dodge Poetry Festival
Had the amazing opportunity to attend sessions with the chancellors of The Academy of American Poets @poetsorg

Gifted my copy of the #poetrycollection "My body lives like a threat" to one of my greatest inspirations in poetry, Ilya Kaminsky, and had the honor of exchanging books with Cornelius Eady. The book features his " Proof" that he read during #MayorMamdani inauguration in NYC

I'm super excited to see my books at the #DodgePoetry #bookstore @sourceofknowledge . The three-day biannual festival is one of the country's biggest poetry festivals.
Do attend if you can.

What an absolute honor it was to have @eduardomartinezleyva9 as part of JCPOFEST 2026!

FELICITY! Happy Birthday!

@eduardomartinezleyva9 is the author of the award-winning “Cowboy Park.” His stunning work explores how the environment, memory, and the borderlands define family and queer identity.

🌿 Eduardo joined our poetry panel, Rooted Witness, which brought together celebrated voices from three vital literary organizations: Cave Canem (Evie Shockley), Kundiman (Purvi Shah), and CantoMundo (Eduardo Martinez-Leyva).

❤️📚 I got to take photos with some truly wonderful people at the inaugural Jersey City Book Fair, and looking back at these moments makes me feel so blessed and grateful!

From our amazing vendors, panelists, and featured performers to the attendees who came out to support us, I’m so thankful for everyone who shared their time, talent, stories, and energy with us. 🥹✨

Creating something from the ground up takes a village, and being surrounded by so many people who believe in the power of books, storytelling, representation, and community means more than words can express.

Thank you for showing up, showing love, and being part of this first chapter. My heart is full, and I’m excited for what’s ahead! ❤️🙌🏾📖

Join @jcpofest at DODGE POETRY FESTIVAL @njpac for an immersive conversation and live performance exploring how these artists are reimagining poetry through collaborations involving - music, dance, light installations - projection mapping, storytelling, and civic engagement.

Led by Melida Rodas, the current Poet Laureate of Jersey City and founder of the Jersey City Poetry Festival, @jcpofest - an interdisciplinary festival which brings together a multimedia panel of artists and collaborators who challenge traditional ideas of what poetry can be—and how it can be experienced, taught, and shared.

▪️Melida Rodas — Poet Laureate of Jersey City / Educator @melidarodaspoet

🌎 JCPOFEST | MISSION

CLIMATE JUSTICE

JCPOFEST cultivates community while focusing on the effects of human activity on the natural world. The festival creates a space for free expression and dialogue on global issues such as climate justice, climate change, its effects, and sustainability.

As modern poets serve as witnesses to these challenges, we seek out works that highlight urgent social and ecological issues while advocating for preservation and conservation efforts.

The second annual Jersey City Poetry Festival (JCPOFEST) created a magical environment for the community to come together and share a powerful, moving artistic experience.

On Saturday evening at the Monira Foundation at MANA Contemporary, multidisciplinary artists came together across visual art, music, dance, film, and poetry, creating an immersive celebration of creative expression.

This intergenerational and interdisciplinary festival proudly explores the SYNERGY between language arts, science, philosophy, technology, and all forms of artistic expression.

🌌JCPOFEST Founder / Visionary / Interdisciplinary Curator:
Melida Rodas, Jersey City Poet Laureate

@melidarodaspoet created a true temple for poetry, using light design and projection mapping to transform the space into an immersive visual experience.

🎬 JCPOFEST Producer / Panel Curator / Monira Cinema JCPOFEST Film Curator: @ibpen
Patrick / I. Buenaventura

🎶 Sound Technician / Music Producer:
@lefiddler_entertainment
Le Fiddler Entertainment

JCPOFEST continues to create a space where generations, disciplines, ideas, and artistic languages intersect — reminding us of the extraordinary possibilities that emerge when creative communities come together.

Art. Poetry. Film. Music. Dance. Science. Technology. Philosophy. SYNERGY.
