Darker days of fall 🍂

Be Formless, Shapeless Like Water...

"Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it." ~ Norman Maclean

This set is another something new that came out of my time in the Tetons last month. Ahead of the Out of Chicago Grand Teton conference, I spent some time scouting locations with David Cobb @davidmcobbphotography and when we found ourselves at Jenny Lake just before sunset one evening, David noticed the colors reflecting on the ripples of water flowing from the lake towards Cottonwood Creek.

David started creating really lovely silky images of the water reflecting color, which looked like beautiful strands of flowing light...and I wanted to learn how to do that myself. With guidance from David, I became totally mesmerized by the water and the rhythm of the flow.

These are each handheld using about a 1/5 second shutter speed without any camera movement...just allowing the water movement to create lovely flow through the frame.

This week, I'm enjoying scouting San Miguel de Allende ahead of my SFW Art of Abstraction workshop next week.

🏆 **My first SILVER of 2026!** 🥈

Absolutely chuffed to share that this image not only picked up my first Silver Award of the year with the Guild of Photographers, but also went on to win **Image of the Month for September!** 🎉

Sometimes the simplest scenes, with the right light and atmosphere, can create something really special.

It's always a great feeling to have your work recognised, especially amongst so many talented photographers.

A lovely little confidence boost and definitely one I'm proud of! 📸

I love photographing waves! Creamy ones, silky ones, lacy ones, and especially those lovely stringy ones that seem to unravel as they break.

I spent hours on the beach at Tongue, happily watching all that wonderful frothy carry-on through my camera. Just one more wave, I'd tell myself. Then another. And another... 😂

I could have stayed there all day! 💙

Not every shot has to be about capturing reality as it is. Sometimes, it’s about seeing things differently and having fun with the process.

And honestly, I kinda like how this turned out.
