Memory" representa a un bebé amado perdido por la colestasis intrahepática del embarazo (ICP). Detrás de cada nombre hay una familia, una historia y un amor que nunca se desvanecerá. ICP update: our little girlie pop can be here next week or in a few weeks… so yeah I’ll be nesting until further notice. This scan to see how she’s doing in there went well! Tomorrow we have a 36 week appt!! 😅

El tratamiento para el ICP se centra generalmente en tres áreas clave:

Monitoreo - Pruebas regulares de ácido biliar y monitoreo fetal, incluyendo pruebas no estrés (NSTs), ayuda a tu equipo de salud a monitorear tu embarazo.

Medicación - El ácido ursodeoxicólico (también conocido como Ursodiol o Actigall)
se utiliza comúnmente como tratamiento de primera línea para ayudar a manejar el ICP.

Entrega anticipada - Dependiendo de los niveles de ácido biliar y otros factores individuales, la entrega se recomienda a menudo entre **36 y 39 semanas**, con la entrega anterior considerada caso por caso.
Cada embarazo es único. Si tienes dudas sobre el ICP, habla con tu proveedor de atención médica sobre el plan de tratamiento que es adecuado para ti.

THE ITCH IS BACK 🥴

This update is from last week, since this video my symptoms have increased. I go back to the doctor next week for my 36 week appointment and we’ll go over lab results and decide what to do from there. In the meantime, we are anticipating baby girl being here a little early. Time to get our hospital bags ready!

Top symptom: severe itching!

ICP is a rare liver condition during pregnancy that is diagnosed by elevated bile acid levels in your blood. In addition to the itching, symptoms include right upper abdominal pain, dark urine (even when hydrated), nausea, and fatigue. Let your OB know right away. I’m currently expecting my 3rd baby, and I’m keeping an eye on symptoms since I was diagnosed with the last two babies. My itching is primarily on the palms of my hands and bottom of my feet, but the itching can be anywhere. Having this condition led to being induced at 37 weeks to avoid complications for my first two babies.

This morning @29w w/ third baby- I was officially diagnosed with Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP) after two weeks of speculation, research, and convincing myself I had this

ICP is a liver condition that occurs late in pregnancy, causing bile acids to build up in the bloodstream. Its hallmark symptom is severe, unbearable itching, particularly on the hands and feet, can get worse at night, which usually resolves shortly after delivery but poses potential risks to the fetus— like stillbirth.

Mine started on the palm of my hands about a month ago. Then feet in bed at night. Then I got my hair died and my head itched uncontrollably the entire appointment. Then it moved to my entire body. It felt like ants crawling inside, and made me want to crawl out of my skin. It comes and goes- somedays worse than others. But HOLY OVERSTIMULATION!

I’ve learned that because my thyroid was removed due to thyroid cancer in 2024, im 3x more likely to develop ICP. It’s quite rare, only occurring in 0.2-2% of pregnancies

If you have ANY itching in pregnancy, PLEASE GO IN and demand liver / bile levels checked. Unfortunately it took 6 days for me to get my labs back to confirm a diagnosis.

Advocate! Advocate! Advocate! Imagine if I didn’t trust my gut and push for the tests?? I can’t tell you how many times the past few year I’ve trusted my gut and fought tooth and nail for a diagnosis I already knew was coming before I saw results.

Treatment: I’m now considered high risk. MFM, 2x weekly nsts, 1x weekly ultrasound, urso 3x daily to try and lower/ keep bile levels stable, and induction around 36-37 weeks. Whatever’s needed to keep baby healthy and safe!!!

I never knew about ICP before two weeks ago, but will continue sharing my journey to help spread awareness through the end of my pregnancy.

Trust the itch. Get tested. Do not feel like you’re annoying or it’s silly or “no big deal” — it is a serious pregnancy condition that requires close monitoring, meds + a plan !!!!
