We found a surprise when we went to tie in our addition to the footing of this existing home. The surprise was…there was no footing. After the team consulted with a structural engineer we began the process of repointing and replacing bricks, adding additional footings and pouring a buttressed wall to secure this home and ensure all the beautiful things we’re doing on the inside, have the necessary support to make it for generations to come. Surprises are inevitable when renovating older homes. We are prepared to handle them on the fly and keep the project moving along while ensuring things are done promptly and professionally. What a DesignXPO! ✨

ASID NJ #DesignXPO was truly one for the books! From inspiring CEU sessions to meaningful celebrations, the day was filled with connection, learning, and moments worth remembering.

We kicked things off with @elan_design_interiors_fineart sharing insights on neuroaesthetics, followed by our Presidents’ Luncheon and Pass the Gavel, where we welcomed the FY 2026–2027 Board. We also introduced our very first Legacy Awards, honoring Diane Gote (@design_worksnj), Kimberley Slater (@designrep_kslater), and Celeste Chirichello (@celestechirichello) for their incredible commitment and contributions to ASID. 🤍

We wrapped up the day with @intelligent.designer.ai engaging session on AI and its impact on the design industry.

If you missed #DesignXPO, you definitely missed a good one! Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make this event such a huge success.
To our exhibitors: we truly appreciate your commitment and dedication to the design community. Without your valuable participation and support, we could not have achieved such a successful event! ✨

A glimpse of what’s taking shape on this custom office addition.

The homeowners loved their home, but wanted a cleaner, more contemporary aesthetic. This addition blends modern architecture with natural materials through thermally modified wood siding, oversized black-framed windows, and crisp mitered trim details.

The warmth and texture of the wood paired with the sharp lines of the architecture create a striking contrast that feels both modern and timeless.

Still plenty to come, but we’re excited about where this one is headed.

What paintings do you have that are currently available? I get this question a lot (thankfully!) and I’m bad at keeping my website up to date, so here you go! Here are a handful of abstracts, florals, and abstract landscapes that are ready to be hung in your dining rooms, foyers, bedrooms, living rooms and powder rooms! A great painting should have the ability to complete a room and make it feel complete 🩷. Thank you for your continued support of my work, this has been a great year so far - thank you clients and interior designer 🤍🤍🤍#njinteriordesign #artforinteriors #danasalzonefineart

Sunrise views of the city skyline from the spacious shower are one of the things our client loves most about their reimagined primary suite. Flip through to read a few quotes from the story in the March issue of @njhomemag written by Marissa Sandora Carr.

This one started below the surface.
We did a probe and determined the existing foundation was not deep enough to support an additional level. So we tackled this project in 2 phases.
Phase 1 was an addition that focused on revamping the kitchen, mudroom and rear deck. But below the surface we were preparing for more. We carefully underpinned the existing foundation to support what the home was never originally designed to carry. The clients had plans for more so we did the dirty work ahead of time. We also ran plumbing stacks, electrical conduits and waterlines up to a second story that wasn’t there yet but we knew would be. That way, when phase 2 started we weren’t redoing things we had just renovated. Slow, methodical, and critical work that sets everything else up for success.

Phase 2 brought the transformation—a full second-story addition and rear expansion that completely redefined the home while keeping it cohesive from every angle. A new primary suite and 2 new bathrooms have changed the way this family lives in their home. We were also able to increase the attic for a healthy size office.

From excavation to elevation, every step was intentional.

Because what you don’t see… is what makes everything you do see possible.

When every detail matters.

It’s hard to believe these before and after shots are ordered correctly, but they are. We flipped the kitchen from the front to the back of this space and what a difference it made! What was once a dated, compartmentalized kitchen and living space is now a warm, cohesive environment designed for real life.

We removed visual clutter, refined the layout, and elevated every finish — from the custom cabinetry and integrated millwork to the layered lighting and natural materials. The result is a space that feels intentional, inviting, and timeless.

Clean lines. Rich textures. Thoughtful details.

This is what happens when every element is considered.
