I was in Wapping yesterday (for an inspiring site visit with @kingston.school.of.art Interior Design students to Wapping Power Station - thank you to Glass Castle Foundation) so I had to draw the Overground stop!

The drum-shaped station building is nestled amongst residential apartments, and someone (maybe the residents association?) has lined the pavement with plants bringing a softer feel to the entire frontage.

Stand-up drawing with @cassart1984 cartridge paper and @uniballco Signo dx

I’m travelling to all 359 stops on the Tube map to draw them. Despite being a born-and-bred Londoner, there are still so many places in this big and beautiful city I’ve never been to. So this year, I’m making my way to all the stations on the London Underground and Overground to sketch each one of them on location.

Wapping Hydraulic Power Station — Site Visit ⚙️
A first look at the site for my Final Major Project at Kingston School of Art.
Walking through Wapping Hydraulic Power Station was a completely different experience from studying it through drawings and photographs. Being surrounded by the original machinery, exposed brickwork, ageing paint, pipes, steelwork and changing natural light made me start noticing the building through material, scale, texture and atmosphere.
What interested me most was the contrast between the heaviness of the machinery and the softness of the light coming through the roof and windows.
Lots to question, document and investigate from here.
Site visit → observation → research → making.

Visiting the ABSURDLY BEAUTIFUL Cosmic House @thecosmichouse by #charlesjencks and experiencing this post-modern living manifesto with @idkingston @kingston.school.of.art this week was a great pleasure as a post-modern geek. The 21yo bachelor student in me reading Venturi and later Jencks himself must be proud

Intricate details and deliberately ironic choices pop up in every corner, colour schemes, finishings and special arrangements. A true masterpiece 💥

Thank you @krista.zz for organising this!

Highlights:
14: OMG those drapes
15: Faux tiles in the floor
16: The jacuzzi based on an inverted Borromini dome
19: The BUTT chair

Ahh finally, my graduation date has come!!

From little 80gsm paper concept models to chatting with peers about that one precedent or even what’s for lunch, it all has value! 4 years at Kingston university has taught me resilience, curiosity and the importance of confidence in any idea.

During my time at university. I moved around London, had to navigate bills and deadlines and even had the opportunity to do a semester in Elisava, Barcelona and be part of The Global Futures Programme in Malaysia. These experiences have taught me compassion and the importance of following through.

Big thank you to the tutors, family and friends who supported me throughout my studies.

My time here leaves me feeling grateful for these opportunities and I hope to further expand my understanding of design and culture in the UK and around the world.

I am looking for graduate roles in interior design or design, please reach out!

Want to see the next generation of creatives who’ll soon be shaping the industry? Head to Free Range.

The exhibition has returned to the Truman Brewery, bringing together the work of this year’s creative graduates, including Interior Design students showcasing their final projects. It’s a great opportunity to explore a wide range of fresh ideas and new talent.

We definitely left feeling inspired! The exhibition runs until 26 July and is well worth a visit if you’re in London.
