Honored doesn’t even begin to cover it. Being invited by @quantifyfunds and @syndicate11_ to step inside @nasdaq and witness @quantifyfunds ring the bell filled my heart in a way I can’t explain. May more and more success be upon you! I came here at 18 with $100 and a suitcase … so moments like this make my entrepreneurial dreams/goals feel a lot more real. 📈🥹 I use to pray for times like this!

I had the privilege of attending the GRAMMYs on the Hill Future Forum at the District Winery in Washington, DC. The third annual Future Forum brought together music creators, industry leaders, and policymakers to tackle the most pressing issues shaping our future. I sat in on four powerful sessions, including a keynote with Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. and YouTube Global Head of Music Lyor Cohen on AI and the creative community, a panel on music education’s role in preparing the next generation, a Producers & Engineers Wing discussion on how artists are using AI in the recording studio, and a conversation on how music builds up cities and communities across the United States. One theme kept surfacing: artists are not protected if they’re not proactive. This is something I talk about constantly when consulting with music artists. One of the first things I tell them is to clean up and lock down their metadata. Here’s why it matters more than ever: When you embed proper ownership information, your name, copyright year, usage terms, and website directly into your media files using IPTC/XMP metadata fields, you create a documentation trail like a blockchain. If your content is ever scraped, cloned, or used without permission to train an AI system, that metadata is your evidence. Beyond metadata, artists need to: ✅ Register compositions AND sound recordings separately with the U.S. Copyright Office ✅ Affiliate with a PRO (ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC) to get paid when your content is used ✅ Add explicit AI prohibition clauses to every label, distribution, and collaboration contract ✅ Set up Google Alerts and use Content ID to monitor unauthorized use of your work AI cannot replicate your community, your live energy, or your authentic story. But it can exploit your catalog if you leave the door open. The artists who win in this era won’t just defend against AI, they’ll define how it interacts with their work, on their terms. More conversations like this need to happen. A big thank you to Todd Dupler and the Academy for bringing high-profile people into the room to create community, education, and relationships. #AIandMusic #RecordingAcademy @harveymasonjr
