His parents arrived in America through the Port of Seattle. Today, @commishcho @samhcho helps lead it.

We sat down with Sam to talk about the full journey: growing up the son of South Korean immigrants, working in Congress and the Obama administration, building an egg export business during Korea’s bird flu crisis, saving a 40-year-old community newspaper, and becoming the youngest person and first person of color to serve as Port of Seattle Commission President. Think you need 100K followers or model looks to get into Dubai’s exclusive venues?

Amer Rustom says that’s one of the biggest misconceptions about La Dolce Vita - and explains what they actually look for.

Would you have assumed the same thing?

He didn’t land in Dubai with money, connections or a perfect plan.
He landed with debt.
Before that came one of the lowest periods of his life: drinking, gambling and an accident that nearly changed everything.

His brother offered him a way out: come to Dubai and start again.

But moving countries wasn’t the thing that changed his life. What mattered was what he decided to do once he got here.

“Giving up is not in my identity.”

Burnout doesn’t always look tired. Sometimes it looks like rage.

A short fuse at work. Snapping at the people you love. Then sitting there wondering who that was.

This one’s about what it actually took to get the anger under control, and why lacing up and hitting the pavement became the release valve.

Real question: what’s your outlet when you’re running on empty? 👇

COVID hit. @kevinleonel was sitting at home doing absolutely nothing. He had two options — PS5 or sewing machine.

Kevin tells the full story of how he got into fashion. It started at the One Hotel in Central Park where he was working as a doorman and bellman, watching Michael B. Jordan’s stylist team rent out entire rooms just for clothing. That was the day the seed was planted. Then COVID hit and he was stuck at home with nothing to do. He wanted a PlayStation. His fiance told him to get the sewing machine instead. That one conversation changed the entire trajectory of his life.

No fashion school. No co-sign. Just a sewing machine, YouTube, and a vision.
