Laika, a short film made in collaboration with Google and IICT.

Making this short film was the most liberating experience, merging traditional filmmaking and Google AI pipeline, exploring an historical event I have always been fascinated by and the world which always awed me Space.

Hope this short film provides a satisfying viewing experience.

This week, creators showed up in five very different places: government speeches, Facebook’s home screen, AI licensing contracts, skilling infrastructure and film production. 👀

Content creation gets called an industry 🇮🇳

At India Mobile Congress 2026, PM Narendra Modi said India’s content creation industry has grown into a multi-thousand-crore sector and provides livelihoods to millions.

The figure comes from the PM’s speech, so we’re treating it as an attributed government statement rather than an independently verified market-size estimate.

Facebook is testing Reels before the Feed 📱

Some Facebook users in India are now being taken straight into full-screen video when they open the app. The classic Feed is still available and users in the test can opt out.

For creators, the interesting part is the first screen: recommended video could get valuable discovery space before friends, Pages and Groups.

A creator’s likeness is becoming licensable 🤖

AI-cloning companies are building systems where public figures can approve and license synthetic versions of their face and voice for commercial content. Hardik Pandya is among the examples reported.

That opens another revenue layer, but consent, ownership, duration and approval rights become much more important when a creator’s identity can keep producing content without another shoot.

Creator discovery is getting more structured 🎯

MESC has signed an MoU with KlugKlug, naming it its official influencer intelligence platform. The partnership is positioned around creator discovery, partnerships and skill development.

The announcement comes from the companies involved, so database and capability claims should be read as partner claims.

AI filmmaking is moving into real studio workflows 🎬

IICT and YouTube unveiled four AI-enabled short films from Indian creative studios under the Create with AI programme. The teams used AI across concept development, visualisation, production and post-production, while human filmmakers remained central to the creative process.

Which one should we break down next? 👇

creator economy India, Facebook Reels India, AI creator rights, creator skilling India, AI filmmaking
