Animals, books, challenge. 🙂

It's Sunday! Hope you are reading something good today. 🙂

I thought I'd catch up with a challenge. This time Animals reading books.

Despite my camera being constantly to hand I have failed to find any of the local wildlife or neighbours pets reading books.

Not to be beaten I set off for a trip to the local zoo. 👍🙌

Nothing! 😬😮

Not a Penguin reading Proust, a Baboon reading Brontë, a Koala reading King, a Tiger reading Tolstoy, or an Orangutan reading Orwell.

🤔🤔🤔

There was no way forward other than reading what I'd been tagged in.

@ofmistymountainsandfadingink had tagged me to show a stack of books with animals in the titles! The challenge was #animalstack and not #animalsreadingbooks

Suddenly the task was much easier and I was able to snap a photo of this animal stack in the wild (by which I mean the comfort of my home).

The Bat - Jo Nesbo
Animals In Translation - Temple Grandin and Catherine Johnson
Zoo Time (that definitely counts 😂) - Howard Jacobson
Travels With A Donkey - R L Stevenson
To Kill A Mockingbird - Harper Lee
Lord of the Files - William Golding
Of Mice and Men - John Steinbeck
Maus - Art Spiegelman
Animal Man - Grant Morrison
Amazing Spiderman - Dan Slott
Black Panther, The Ultimate Guide.

Have you read any of these?

I'll tag a few of you but if you see this then please do have a go at the #animalstack ( not #animalsreadingbooks ).

It’s my Birthday!!! While I am still slowly in the world of Prythian....I plan to pick up The Bridge Kingdom this month and read about Lara! Thank you so much Lora for these two as part of my birthday present! I can’t wait to read them! @illborrowthisone is amazing! If you don’t have a friend like her in your life then you are really missing out!

QOTD: What are your May hopefuls?

AOTD: Well it’s officially my birthday month and I am NOT obsessing over what to read like I normally do! ARCs are taking a back seat! I am determined to dive more into Prythian so I did start ACOMAF last night because Liz needs to get her groove back 😂. There are lots of books that release this month that I want! Maybe I will get to some and maybe not 🤷🏻‍♀️. All I know is that I am making it a point to really enjoy reading this month, at whatever pace suits me, and really picking up some things that I want to read for ME! I refuse to allow reading to feel like a chore! My ARC reading in past months has gotten me to this point 🤦🏼‍♀️

On a side note, I get to have a birthday celebration (dinner, dessert, probably some wine involved 😆) with my bookish buddy and IRL best friend @illborrowthisone tomorrow night and I CANNOT wait!!!!! Our birthdays are a week apart! Lora....I put in the the order last night for our Nothing Bundt Cakes 😂🤤

#coffeeancurrentlyreading

As I've not had much reading time the last couple of days I thought it was good timing to post for one of the challenges I've been tagged in.

@bozzi1 tagged me for the coffee and currently reading post while we were busy crushing Monday.

Well I've now crushed Tuesday so bring on the rest of the week! 🤣

Coffee today in my Star Wars mug where the lightsabers appear with the heat from the coffee. Cool nerdiness 🙂.

Current read borrowed from the library is The Sympathizer by @viet_t_nguyen which I just had to read after seeing the review by @footnotes.and.tangents. Check out Simon's account for some truly amazing writing.

I'm thoroughly enjoying The Sympathizer and I'll post more information about it when I've finished.

Tagging a bunch of you lovely people in case you'd like to do a post for this challenge.

Let's see your mugs/cups and current reads!

“Most women suffer thorns for the sake of the flowers, but we who wield power adorn ourselves with flowers to hide the sting of our thorns.” -King of Scars

QOTD: What sequels are you looking forward to this year?

I’m both excited and nervous about this photo! This is something completely outside of my comfort zone but some friends and I wanted to bring you a #ThighsForNikolai post to celebrate the upcoming release of Rule of Wolves! @illborrowthisone very nicely coerced @bookish_snippets and I to join her. We then convinced @reading.inwatercolor and @bookishelflife to participate in the hashtag as well! Make sure to check out their posts and show them some love! I had a lot of fun with this and might just rotate this style in on some stack days. I don’t include myself in photos almost ever, so we’ll see when I get the nerve to do it again. 😳
•
This style used to be a staple in @old.enough.for.fairytales grid, and while it’s not one she rotates anymore you should check out her new styles and give her a follow!

Do you ever participate in fun hashtags with friends?

I wanted to jump on board with the lovely ladies for #thighsfornikolai Sadly my brother in law still has my King of Scars copy (cough cough) but I still could showcase my love through the Grishaverse series.

Countdown to King of Wolves!!!

Whose your favorite character from the Grishaverse?

Mine is always Nikolai and second the Darkling

“Flame and shadow. One cannot exist without the other.” -Red Queen

QOTD: What series have you been putting off finishing?

While I really enjoyed the Red Queen series, I still haven’t read Broken Throne! I even preordered it, but it’s been sitting on my shelf judging me for not being ready to see how everything ends after War Storm. And have you guys heard about @victoriaaveyard’s upcoming release, Realm Breaker?! I’m so excited for it to release!

I’m also trying something a little new for me! I love seeing @bookish_snippets, @illborrowthisone and @asthebookends doing this style and decided to give it a go while my grid is in limbo! 2021 is for trying new things, right? Make sure to check out each of their pages, they all have such stunning photos and setups!

QOTD: What’s your most anticipated read for 2021?

A: Mine, as shown in this photo, is Witchshadow, from the Witchlands series by @stdennard. If you haven’t read it yet, I totally recommend you. One of the things I like the most in this set is the multiple POV’s that allow us to learn a lot more about each character, as we progress through the story.

On another note, if you are celebrating Christmas, may you have a wonderful Christmas Eve and, above all, stay safe. It’s been a crazy year, but let’s take care and hope that next year will be kinder to all of us 🤗
