It’s been nearly four years since we transformed this kitchen and it’s still my favorite renovation we have ever done.

Six years ago, I walked through the doors of this house with so many dreams of turning it into a home that felt entirely my own. Of all the spaces I envisioned transforming, the kitchen was always the one closest to my heart.

But I knew exactly what I wanted, and I also knew the time, energy, and financial commitment it would take to bring that vision to life. So, while other rooms took priority over the years, my dream kitchen patiently waited its turn.

And now, six years later, here we are. My very own dream kitchen. 🤍

Last night, I found myself standing in this space with tears in my eyes. Not just because of how beautiful it turned out, but because I know how long I’ve dreamed of this moment, how hard I’ve worked for it, and how much of my heart has gone into every single detail. There is something so incredibly emotional about seeing a vision you’ve carried with you for years finally become your reality.

I felt an overwhelming sense of joy, pride, and, above all, gratitude.

And I couldn’t share this moment without acknowledging my incredible crew. We’ve worked side by side on countless projects, bringing my clients’ visions to life, but this time was different. This time, they were helping me bring my dream to life. To experience that with the very people I trust to execute my designs made this entire journey that much more meaningful.

Six years of dreaming, months of planning, countless decisions, and so much love poured into every detail.

And somehow, the reality is even more beautiful than the dream. 🤍

A special thank you to my incredible team:

If you’ve never made mulled cider before, this is your sign. 🍎

There’s nothing cozier than a pot of warm cider simmering on the stove this time of year.

I like to start with fresh apple cider from one of our local mills, slice up one whole apple, and add:
• 2–3 star anise pods
• A small handful of whole cloves
• 2–4 cinnamon sticks

Let it simmer for about 20–40 minutes, until your whole kitchen smells like fall. Once it’s warm and fragrant, pour it into mugs and (if you’re feeling it) add a splash (or 2) of whiskey! @sazeracrye is my favorite pairing with cider right now.

No exact measurements, no rules, just cozy, simple, and delicious. 🍂

Come with us for a progress check at one of our new builds at Briar’s Creek on Johns Island!

Site visits are how we make sure what was envisioned on paper is translating in the field. We’re checking proportions, finishes, millwork, lighting locations, sight lines, and all the little details that are much easier (and cheaper) to address now than later.

This one is starting to come to life, and we can’t wait to show you the finish product!

COMMENT “LINK” and I’ll send you the links to the 5 things in our renovation I get asked about the most 👇

We’re officially 10 months into renovating our 1990s home, and apparently I have become the internet’s personal link finder for everything we put in this house 😂

So I put the five most-requested things all in one place.

Our checkerboard bathroom tile, 40-inch ILVE range, custom pantry doors, iron stair spindles, and powder bathroom vanity.

Some were splurges. Some were surprisingly affordable. And at least one required me to spend an unreasonable amount of time on the internet before making a decision.

But that’s pretty much been our approach to this entire house. Spend where it matters, save where we can, DIY the things we’re capable of doing ourselves, and make this 90s house work for how we actually live.

Because I want it to be pretty, obviously. But it also needs to survive 3 dogs, an 11-year-old, future little ones, and actual everyday life.

Save this if you’re renovating an older home too, and comment “LINK” and I’ll send all 5 straight to you!

1990s home renovation, older home renovation, fixer upper, kitchen remodel, bathroom remodel, staircase makeover, iron stair spindles, powder bathroom vanity, DIY home improvement

Every detail in this kitchen was chosen with one goal in mind: to make something entirely new feel like it had always belonged here. I intentionally mixed finishes, layered in natural materials, and chose pieces with a little age and character so it felt collected over time instead of installed all at once.

I broke down all of those decisions in my latest blog post, with plenty of ideas to inspire your own kitchen, whether you’re renovating or simply adding more character to the one you have.
