Molly Torres Portnof of @dateinteriors had one overarching word in mind when designing her daughter Delilah’s nursery—magical. “I wanted an exciting yet soothing place where she could play, grow, and dream,” Molly says. “I had ‘chic Alice in Wonderland’ on the brain when I started designing the space.”

Using @ottolinedevries’s Catchweed wallpaper as her jumping-off point, Molly layered in bold color, rich texture, and playful shapes. The first piece she sourced was @oeufnyc’s Moss Crib in a vibrant Tomato hue. “I love how fun and unexpected it is,” she says. “Paired with the butterfly handles, rattan bees, @patkimpatkim’s Shroom Stool, and @enyleeparker’s Mini Daisy Sconce, it started to feel very ‘through the looking glass’—fantastical and whimsical in the best way.” Above the crib hangs a print by U.K. artist Kate Boxer, and next to it is a handy changing table by @dovesandtails. @everhem crafted the blackout shades using a @rebecca_atwood textile.

The rug was the next important piece, Molly says. “Especially since babies spend so much of their early lives exploring on the floor! But I couldn’t quite find what I was looking for: a sensory experience through color, pattern, and texture.” She worked with @imarugs, a vendor specializing in bespoke, handwoven rugs that serve as both functional pieces and works of art. “From initial concept to final design, they brought all my ideas to life, down to the smallest detail,” she shares. Though it’s made of soft New Zealand wool, the designer admits Delilah’s favorite part is the raised flower pattern detail. Cushions by @loomdecor offer additional comfort.

“Kids grow up so quickly,” Molly reflects. “I wanted the space and all of the pieces it’s filled with to grow with her and make her feel happy, inspired, and safe through every stage.”

We’ve had our @sixpennyhome devyn sofa for a few years now and it’s really holding up beautifully given us letting the kids eat snacks, wrestle and make forts quite often 🥨 these @sezane striped pillows are just what I wanted to add even more color to the room. Not your average neutral girly 💅

I love a bright, yet cozy bedroom, so I created this one by layering a mix of textures and materials in a black, grey, and white palette. It's soothing, yet interesting and rich... anyone else ready for a nap? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
