The city will be lighting up for Light Night Leeds next month ✨ Light Night will feature over 40 installations exploring the stories, people and places that have shaped Leeds over the past 400 years under the theme of ‘A City Speaks…’ The festival’s website is now live so you can get planning which pieces are on your must-see lists. Some of the top picks include ‘In Dual Light’ at Millennium Square where you can see how light, geometry and sound transform Leeds Civic Hall. 'Happy as the Day is Long' at Centenary Square, where you can step beneath a giant mirrorball, pick up a pair of headphones and join a silent disco. 'Eternal Ensemble', see and hear an immersive musical piece within the architecture of Leeds Minster as projections of a cellist transform the space. 'IOLA 2.0 and her Robots' at Leeds Trinity, a sparkling robot queen from the future and her troupe of illuminated dancers and drummers. 'Aftereal' at Aire Park. Watch a luminous landscape ripple before your eyes as hundreds of fluorescent threads rise, fall and shimmer in ultraviolet light. 'Call My Name, Call Me Home', which sees the Queens Hotel illuminated by artwork which celebrates the people and stories that make Leeds the unique city that it is. 'Far, Far Away' which is a trail of light along Briggate and inspired by British Library’s collections of fairytales. There’s so much to explore at Light Night Leeds, which takes place on 28 and 29 October (6pm - 9.30pm). It’s a strange time for sure, Autumn beckons the busiest I’ve been for more than a year, with intriguing challenges of interactive opera with designer @lipa alumni @chloe_wyn along with creating space and celebration for the uber talented @dark_horse_uk and designer @lherbertdesign along with one of the crafty team known as Crofty from@the masters@of live stream theatre @imitatingthedog . My first true rep season collaborating with fellow@alumni designer @elliefergdesign . Sitting alongside huge life changes of selling my 29 year home , redifing Tracey and trying to keep Roots Yard presentable ! I’m giving Tracey/me some kindness and acknowledgment that she is doing ok xx be gentle peeps and give welcomed hugs out generously! We know when they will diminish and compassion is part of our offering art/freation/collaboration -and ultimately our shadows here on the earth we share . Here is to an Autumn of no time 🤣learning , discovering and receiving some hugs of length xxx and hopefully a new space to be home for me and one of the rascals featured! This is Luna demanding her morning share of my yoghurt!

Our recent trip to London and Leeds was an unforgettable journey into the heart of cutting-edge, interdisciplinary storytelling. After conducting a workshop for the brilliant theatre community, the ETFI team was invited to a film studio in Leeds to witness the creative process behind “Remember Romeo”—a bold new co-production by imitating the dog and The Dukes, Lancaster. This post-classical experiment is a breathtaking, poetic exploration of love, aging, and the fragility of human memory, inspired by and including the rich text of Shakespeare’s romantic tragedy Romeo and Juliet. The studio session offered a mesmerizing glimpse into this internal labyrinth, brought to life through media technology and the digital mastering of these images.

(An ode to the lost art of the serial ad) Tape 1: G*%d Blend Originally staring Anthony Head and Sharon Maughan (1987 -1993)   For this challenge I’m remaking vintage serial commercials from the 80s and 90s to raise money for @actorstrust . I’d also love to share peoples’ experiences with this charity so if you’ve received support, pop your story in the comments 😊🙏 To donate: Please comment DONATE in the chat and I’ll bob the link into your DMs! 👇   Serial ads used to be everywhere in the 80s and 90s, a featured part of the 2 terrestrial commercial channels available to UK viewers. You couldn’t bypass adverts back then through paid subscription to a network, which meant most people were familiar with the key players featured in primetime viewing hours. The UK’s longest running serial ad was the PG Tips campaign which ran for 46 years. Featuring chimpanzees dressed in human clothing lip syncing to celebrity voice actors, this, (thankfully) is something I doubt would be tolerated today.    The lip syncing in these remakes is partly a nod to these absurd monkeys & also something I miss from working with @imitatingthedog for many years in the noughties.  We made a series of shows which toured around the world where we’d record a film and lip sync our own voices to it live. #CreativeFundraising #90sNostalgia #80sremakes UKactors (JustGiving link also in bio)

⭐️Homeward returns with developed work from local artists ⭐️ Nearly four months after @imitatingthedog lit up the inside and outside of Selby Abbey with Homeward for Selby Light 2026, it is returning to both the town and the installation to revisit those stories in a brand new light. Homeward originally featured a magical trail of installations throughout the Abbey, a collection of characters and stories brought to life in a series of imaginative and unexpected ways and all inspired by local residents who participated in several workshops. Swapping wintery nighttime for (hopefully!) summer sun, five favourite stories will be returning this weekend at Now Then! Festivals, this time housed in a blackout marquee. These unique characters will be accompanied by two new works from local artists, presented in viewing box installations. And, if that wasn’t enough, you can also relive the magic of the original, spectacular Homeward video-mapping installation in a special film screened on a loop. Experience it in the grounds of Selby Abbey on Saturday 13 June and Eversley Park on Sunday 14 June, throughout the afternoon. Homeward was originally commissioned by Now Then! (part of North Yorkshire Council), co-produced with Mediale and conceived, created and realised by imitating the dog for Selby Light 2026. It was made possible with funding for Arts Council England, North Yorkshire Council, UKSPF and The National Lottery Fund.

Site visit day for Crystal Tide ✨ I spent the day in Lancaster exploring potential locations for the installation ahead of Light Up Lancaster 2026. Standing in each space and seeing it in person is such an important part of the creative process. The canal, Dalton Square and Sun Street are all being considered, and it’s fascinating to think about how the work could transform each setting through light, colour and reflection. Big news! ETFI is heading to Central Saint Martins for a very special collaboration. We’re thrilled to bring our Interdisciplinary Dialogue workshop to London on the 22nd and 23rd of June, for the acclaimed theatre company Imitating the Dog @imitatingthedog and the students of one of the world’s most iconic art schools. This immersive experience invites artists from all disciplines to reconnect with the essentials: listening, presence, spontaneity, and the power of play. Because great art starts with great dialogue.
