My first marathon 🤍

I originally thought I’d document everything, capture every mile, and share it all… but somewhere along the way I realized this one was just for me.

And I’m really glad it was.

I ran this race against myself. No expectations, just showing up and taking in every second like so many people told me to do. And they were right.

The energy in Cincinnati was unmatched—so much love, so many strangers cheering like they knew you. Somewhere around mile 16 my headphones died (not ideal 😅), but honestly… it forced me to be even more present. I got to hear the crowd, my footsteps, and every voice around me.

I listened to voice recordings from my friends and family throughout the race (crying and running should be an Olympic sport). I saw so many of my favorite people out on the course, and every single one of those moments carried me forward.

Training for and running this marathon taught me more about myself than I expected. There’s a lot I’ll unpack later—but for now, this is what I have.

I did it. 🫶

Two years sober today. 🤍

I thought after year one it would feel easy. Year two reminded me this journey is still hard — and still so worth it.

There were moments this year I was scared to post about my sobriety because I was scared I’d have to admit I broke it. The quiet mental battles. The “I could just have one” whispers. Choosing the hard thing over and over again.

I went through my first breakup as a sober adult. No numbing. No escaping. Just feeling everything head on. It forced me to process emotions I don’t think I ever fully have. I hated it at times. I joked about needing a drink. But I didn’t — and I’m so proud of that. My support system carried me.

And then I started choosing me.

I focused on healing. Built confidence. Picked up hobbies. Leaned into creativity. Made sure my cup was full before pouring into others. I became intentional about who I let into my life — choosing people who amplify my light instead of dim it.

Watching my best friend Mark celebrate one year sober this year has been such a gift. Mocktail nights, karaoke, tropical Red Bulls — fully present for all of it.

And my dad starting his sobriety journey three months ago? I couldn’t be more proud. Sharing new NA finds together is something I never imagined. Healing really does ripple.

Yes, I’m celebrating this like a birthday — because it deserves to be celebrated.

Two years of growth. Two years of healing. Two years of showing up for my life.

Year three, let’s go. 🤍✨
