I wanted to be an Olympic swimmer when I was a kid. No joke. I literally had it written down as a goal and stuck to my bedroom wall. And in my early teens, whilst I was an okay swimmer, I realised pretty quickly that the kids at Nationals were on another level and I had absolutely no chance. So at 15, I discovered alcohol and fun 😂 Also no joke. And through my late teens and 20s I had an absolute ball. I also realised I was quite shit at other sports too, like footy for example. So my sporting dreams were over and I thought I didn't care.

But at 37, I hesitantly started swimming again. Which led to wanting to do a triathlon. And then I discovered middle distance triathlons and then full distance/Ironman and the magic of endurance sport...

All of a sudden I was obsessed. And I was reliving my early years enjoyment of sport and chasing those dreams again (with lower ambitions...) I'm still not a confident triathlete, and have all the doubts. But now, I'm at the mother (effing) Ironman World Champs in Hawaii. Kona! I'm not expecting a big result. But the good thing is it doesn't really matter. I got here. And at the age of 40 (or older) it's a really fine line of how much you push yourself in training, racing and fitting it around general life and whether you get injured or break down. So I'm just grateful and privileged to be here, happy, healthy, and for the better part, injury free..

Biggest thanks go to Damo, and my coach Mick. Damo, for obviously putting up with all this shit (and it's a lot). And Mick, for the endless support, help, constant answering of my questions... I hope to make the @llivstill crew proud.

It's hot, humid and windy. The main aim is to finish feeling good and that I gave it my best. Every word of support I've received will be in my thoughts, in between the "fuck this", "I absolutely hate this" and "it's hot, it's too hot". No better feeling than that finish line though 🌺🥳
