Saturday’s soft opening for my beloved mother-in-law, Huguette Caland and grandmother of Olympia, was pure magic. Her incredible retrospective, A Life in a Few Lines, has traveled from the Reina Sofía in Madrid to the Deichtorhallen in Hamburg, and it is officially open to the public at the Hammer Museum starting today! We finished the day celebrating back where it all began: her former house and studio. 🥂✨ The show is open now, but mark your calendars for the museum’s official opening night celebration party on October 10th! 🎨❤️

The Collection of Chiquinha Moretti Maluf (b. 1939 – d. 2026)
Presented by Defa Estate Sales

32B Westbourne Gardens, W2 5PU
Saturday 26 September – 12.00 PM to 12.00 AM
Sunday 27 September – 12.00 PM to 6.00 PM

Trained as an interior designer in her native Brazil, Chiquinha Moretti Maluf brought the precision of her discipline and an unapologetically avant-garde instinct to London, where a four-decade tenure as Director of Production Design & Costume at the Royal Ballet & Opera would establish her as one of the most distinctive creative voices of her generation.

This estate sale offers a rare chance to bring a piece of that world home. Highlights include:

* A wardrobe of custom pieces by some of the era’s most celebrated costume and fashion designers.
* Fine furniture and design ephemera, reflecting a career spent between the studio and the stage.
* Original art and rare books, gathered over decades of extensive travel.

This sale reflects a home that was, by all accounts, as eclectic and singular as her work on the stage, open over one weekend to browse and buy. No auction, no registration, all items priced and available to take home on the day!
