IN A LANDSCAPE’s 11th season concluded yesterday at Lewis & Clark College in Portland and with it my first season (if not my first full year) with the nonprofit. I’m so glad and grateful to be a part of this small, creative, dedicated team. Congratulations to all @inalandscape , especially @storilori and @hunternoack ! I can’t wait to see where the Steinway travels next season. Speaking of, time to get to work.

Nobody expects to find a Steinway in Bronson Canyon. But there it was, headphones handed out to anyone who wandered close enough, a rattlesnake minding its own business nearby and a pianist, Hunter Noack, making the whole hillside sound like a concert hall.

Classical music, with a view! 🌄✨ We’re still thinking about this unforgettable afternoon!

Last weekend, one of our recent Classical Californians, Hunter Noack brought his piano to Griffith Park for an amazing performance beneath the Hollywood Sign taking classical music beyond the concert hall and into one of LA’s most iconic landscapes. 🎶🌴

🌱 🎵 This weekend, at the Griffith Park in the heart of Los Angeles, I had the chance to take part in the @inalandscape experience. A series of outdoor concerts launched to reconnect people with nature. Founded in 2016 by @hunternoack, In a Landscape has presented more than 350 concerts across Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, California, New York, and Canada. I would love to see them performing in Québec during a future season 💙 Thank you for the incredible experience, even underneath a concert piano! and making classical music accessible to all!

Spectacular performance today in Griffith Park, one of 53 concerts by pianist Hunter Noack in his astonishing concept program, @inalandscape, wherein Hunter plants a stage and a gorgeous concert grand Steinway in various outdoor venues across the West. Everything is perfectly mic’d and the audience, encouraged to wander the grounds heard it all through their provided headphones.
This shot was taken during Hunter’s exceptional performance of the 2nd movement of Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No 2, with exquisite baking tracks by the Oregon Symphony. Followed by Eric Carmen’s artful crib of this movement for his hit All By Myself, with audience members chipping in onstage for the chorus, and Hunter’s beautiful vocal rendering of the verses (way too modest about his voice).
Just such a genius concept with every selection rendered to perfection by Hunter, closing with a four-hand arrangement of the Rhapsody in Blue with his partner on the bench and off, Pink Martini’s bandleader, Thomas Lauderdale. They’ve been tinkering with this four-hand version for a while now and I have to say I prefer their version to all others.

— On Friday, Sept. 25, Elysian Park was proud to host the first Southern California performance of @inalandscape the acclaimed "Classical Music in the Wild" nonprofit program.

Pianist @hunternoack, a graduate of USC's Thornton School of Music, performed a 90-min. selection of classic and contemporary pieces on his 9-ft. Steinway while audience members listened on wireless headphones. He invited guests to the stage for a sing-along section and to experience vibrations from the piano while beneath it. Listeners were encouraged to stroll around Bishop Canyon as the moon rose. Departing audience members described the evening as "just magical!”

Thank you to Friends of Elysian Park supervolunteer @shawnsites for the beautiful photos! More at our "Previous Events" Flickr link in bio!
