🌺 Each lineage at this upcoming retreat is taught by a woman who has lived as the teachings. Irishapi was initiated into the Dogon tradition and brings Dogon teachings on the Divine Mother, herbal medicine and ceremonial bathing. On the land we gather on, we sit in cacao ceremony— grown by hands that carry the ancient tradition—sharing ancestral remembrance. An earth priestess teaches us to listen to the trees the way the old pagans did, and an Italian mystic guides us through breath. Cortometraje Bribri Sibö bakeit súk - Piensa en Dios En las montañas profundas de Talamanca-Costa Rica-America Central, los pueblos originarios Bribri continúan sosteniendo una resistencia histórica, cultural y territorial que persiste frente a los procesos de transformación impuestos por la modernidad contemporánea. Su cosmovisión, estrechamente vinculada a la tierra, sus cultivos, a la memoria oral y a las prácticas agrícolas ancestrales, constituye una de las expresiones culturales más significativas del patrimonio humano y espiritual de Costa Rica. Sin embargo, estas formas de conocimiento y organización comunitaria enfrentan hoy múltiples amenazas derivadas de la invisibilización institucional, la pérdida lingüística, la presión económica y el debilitamiento progresivo de las tradiciones transmitidas entre generaciones. La lengua bribri, como vehículo de identidad y memoria colectiva, se encuentra expuesta a procesos de desplazamiento cultural que afectan profundamente la continuidad de sus saberes ancestrales. Del mismo modo, los territorios indígenas y sus sistemas de cultivo tradicionales enfrentan dinámicas de explotación y abandono que ponen en riesgo no solo la sostenibilidad ambiental, sino también la permanencia de formas de vida construidas durante siglos. En este contexto, la resistencia de los pueblos originarios no debe comprenderse únicamente como un acto de supervivencia cultural, sino como una defensa permanente de la diversidad humana, del equilibrio con la naturaleza y de los conocimientos ancestrales que aún sobreviven en las montañas de Talamanca. Reflexionar sobre esta realidad implica reconocer que la desaparición progresiva de las culturas originarias y sus territorios, representa también la pérdida irreparable de una parte fundamental de la memoria histórica y cultural de la humanidad. Whatever's happening in our insides gets reflected on the outside. The wars, the climate crisis, the forest fires in Kalimantan. That's not to dismiss the responsibility and blame that belongs with the ruling class or the broligarchy. It's about widening the lens again. Remembering where we come from and what role we can still play, through our own ecology, our own actions. We tend to think of healing as private. But the separation was never just from ourselves or the people close to us. We got disconnected from Mother Nature the same way we got disconnected from our own bodies. Same wound, different place. So when we sit with our grief, or our shadow, or whatever we're trying to illuminate through the medicines, we're not only doing that for ourselves. We're helping heal our mother too, and stepping back into remembrance. From there, into stewardship and guardianship of life. How do we do that? Global problems feel so far away and so big that it's easy to think nothing we do matters. It starts with relationship. India talks about putting bare feet on the ground and just sitting there. No ceremony required for that part… just presence. Feel how the earth has been listening the whole time, waiting for us to remember how to talk to her.
