blessed equinox ~

Last night it hit me how soon I’m going to be back out east, and I felt so emotional thinking about this summer and how much gratitude I have for all the beauty, generosity, serendipity and magic I’ve received. Thinking of all the amazing people I’ve had the honour and privledge to photograph, all the new friends, meeting new places and returning to others. I’m profoundly changed in ways I don’t even understand and might not until I go home. I’m a bit overwhelmed thinking of reintegrating after so much change but slowly slowly slowly I’ll come out of a much needed hermitage.

I was talking to a friend about how we both felt we went from the worst year of our life to the best year of our life, and the whiplash from that 🌀 learning to trust has been a major lesson for me this year and the shoe isn’t always gunna drop.

I just wanna say a deep thank you to everyone, i am forever changed

see you on the other side

ISABELLA AND THE SPROUTS are RELEASING their FIRST full length studio ALBUM and you are invited to join the celebration on the eve of its release!
The world of Isabella and The Sprouts is introspective, tender, and sincere- reflected through harmonies and instrumentation in a style inspired by the folk revival of the 60s and many modern day femme fronted folk rock acts. Their live sets are filled with emotive lyrics and sing-alongs, inviting the audience into the experience with an open hand.
To make this evening extra special the night opens with a community choir: “The Beautiful Loose Anti-Choir” directed by our beloved local legend Martin Reisle, followed by the revival of Vancouver’s sweet heart Spank William’s free jazz band The Ministry Of Human Resources.
Not only is this event the celebration of a (perhaps long awaited) release and culmination of a building musical web, it will also be a sort of goodbye, Isabella Sprout is moving eastward (Montreal) during the winter and this will be one of their last performances before the big move.
This will surely be a night to remember, full of community, big feelings and perhaps a few hijinks along the way… Bring your whole family and please dress for the occasion (up for interpretation but have some fun with it)!

another summer of beautiful magic and chaos and reunion, new friendship and new inspiration,

historically every summer brings some sort of personal crisis to my life but this summer might have broken the spell ✨

so grateful for all the generosity that has been sent my way by all these angels across turtle island, grateful for my safety driving thousands of kilometers, grateful to experience so much beauty in a few short months.

Im near the end of this gigantic tintype tour that started out as a seed planted in my mind and then sprouted into a fruit bearing tree that I get to share with everyone. I’m not sure what’s next when I return to Mi’kma’ki, but I’ll figure that out once the time comes ~

here’s a few photos of some pals , makes me wish I took more photos of homies! I miss y’all dearly

xoxo

I want these pictures printed glossy and stuck behind thin plastic holding them two by two double sided in a book on a mantle. The power of friendship mixed with the talent in our world can move mountains holy moly we were so far away and so close together. @dawsoncityhonkytonk was it.

Windy Road is out now everywhere!
What is there to say? “I want love to be a promise but it can’t be can it” and yet, somehow this heart stays open. Love is chosen over and over again. Like my dear friend Max, who seems to truly love everyone he meets. Life is so beautiful and painful when you are born with a big achey heart. I am grateful to have known and be shaped by Max, here we are 7 years later finally collaborating on a song- which was the intention behind our first time spent together but if you know how adhd Max is now picture that at 21! And also I knew about 2 chords at the time. Well that’s okay, the Windy Road of life and love progresses, we love, we lose and something even better happens. You get a best friend for life and a sappy song… thank you for your big heart Max.
Thank you for the big hearts of everyone who worked on this song. so many friends far and wide adding their magic. Some guest stars ⭐️ included of course,
Dearest @spank_williams singing and playing piano.
Wonderfully talented @benjaminvallee on pedal steel,
the voice of @haylstobart and my usual cast of sprouts
