Beauty Shop Collective: Party Mix

March 5-28, 2026

Join us for opening night in @pioneersquare during the First Thursday Art Walk! Thursday, March 5th, 5-8PM

Panel Discussion and Artist Reception hosted on
Saturday, March 7 at 4 PM

Beauty Shop is a group of like-minded women artists based in the Puget Sound area. Our work is replete with sarcasm, idealism and plain old chutzpah. We share a passion for experimentation. We never know what’s around the bend with our conceptions, and we like it that way.

Beauty shops were historically a third place for women folk to gather away from the male gaze. They evoke memories of Fresca, Salem Cigarettes, Valium, and secrecy.

We retreat to our studios to sort and invent. We gather to challenge and subjugate doubt.

This is the debut show of Beauty Shop. We have called it Party Mix because the term embodies the joy we achieve when we bring our art together. There’s a range of sensibilities in our collective works and we believe that the mix makes for a good party.

Participating Artists:

Ingrid Sojit @ingrid_sojit a member of Gallery 110, is inspired by the organic shapes observed in nature, the decorative geometry of folk art, and activist poster artists of the 20th century.

Saundra Fleming @painting.squirrel a member of Gallery 110, paints in the face of fear and the unknown to overcome darkness and Nihilism.

Lynette Charters @lynettecharters holds an MFA from Chelsea, London, and a BFA (hons) from Cardiff, Wales. In addition to exhibiting her works worldwide, she is the curator at The Gallery at Harlequin Theater, a contributing writer for Oly Arts Magazine, and is the author of two books.

Kate Harkins @kateharkinsstudio is an abstract painter with a strong sense of play represented by Columbia City Gallery and Core Gallery and has been an Artist in Residence at the University of Washington Medical Center.

Arni Adler @arniadler has been creating and showing her paintings, collage, and 3D wood-block art since 2010. Primarily self-taught, Adler has taught art to children and adults of all abilities at the Seattle PlayGarden and Seattle Artist League

March 2025 at Gallery 110 : Hysterical Blindness by Ingrid Sojit

Opening Thursday March 6th from 12-8pm during the Pioneer Square Art Walk

Joint Artist Reception: Friday, March 14 (4-7pm)

Although the diagnostic label is no longer in use, the term hysterical blindness once referred to a condition in which patients suffer visual impairment in the absence of any known medical cause.

These paintings and collages explore the relationship between eyesight, the physical ability for the eye to see, and vision, the ability of the brain to process what it sees. The term vision has several literal and metaphorical meanings—from a person’s ideological foundation, to their imagined plans for the future, to imagination itself, or even to a supernatural apparition.

“The idea that vision loss can be a psychological phenomenon touches upon a set of questions that are interesting,” says Sojit. “What do we see when we have lost our ability to recognize what we are seeing”

A peek behind the scenes @gallery110seattle as we prepare to show the work of three incredible artists during March 2025!

@ampetersons
@ingrid_sojit
@scout_sprout

Our installation committee and artists came together to put together this show - despite the construction taking over 3rd street in #pioneersquare this spring!

All of the artists, paintings, sculptures, and volunteers made it into the gallery this Sunday, and the results of their arranging-rearranging, and hanging work? We have a colorful and insightful show for you this upcoming month!

Battle the construction and support local artists by coming out this Thursday March 6th, 2025 from 12-8pm for the @pioneersquare Art Walk!
