150kg Zercher Squat.

This was a goal I thought was months away.

Last week, I hit a big number on the Zercher Squat and thought it might have just been a good day.

One week on, and it’s clear it wasn’t a one-off.

The thing with the Zercher Squat, in my opinion, is that the limiting factor often isn’t your leg strength or your core. It’s holding the bar in that position and dealing with the discomfort that comes with it.

Looking back, I think the gains I’ve made over the last couple of weeks have less to do with suddenly getting stronger and more to do with confidence, purpose and being switched on when it’s time to get the work done.

Which makes you think…

How much more are we actually capable of when we stop holding ourselves back?

The test isn’t whether you agree with the advice, or if you understand it.

The test is looking back over the last week, where did old habits take over vs the new way you wanted to train?

If old habits keep winning, you’re not coachable, you’re just agreeable.

Epic leg session. Keeping it simple. Lift heavy, squat, lunge, hinge and some lateral movement with jumping = proper DOMs

The numbers are a snapshot. A moment shaped by a thousand things we can and have controlled, and thousands that we can't. The person behind it, is the difference.

It's actually an incredible opportunity to zoom out, because averages are hard to ignore.

@jmperformance_coach has had a journey. With a hip deformity, a lot of things were perceived as impossible. Yet he still took on endurance sport and, with another great coach, completed @challengeroth.

Since then, and after his hip operation, he's continued to push, but now he's been able to push further.

Power has increased. Our focus on base and anaerobic efficiency has been purposeful. But this can only happen if the sessions and preparations are made.

Priorities are set and, more importantly, when motivation is low, the session still gets done.

Because the body is still ready for it.

This journey is class and when you're allinged, is even better.

Thanks J.

Tomorrow we have deceivingly challenging workout.

“Death By” Sandbag Cleans and Burpees

8 min EMOM (every minute on the minute)

1st minute start with 1 sandbag clean + 1 burpee over the sandbag. Then 2nd minute complete 2 of each…

Keep increasing the reps every minute until you can’t complete the required reps or the time ends.

Felt really easy until the 6 minute mark and then the workout really starts.

Rx weights are 60/40kg 💪🏽

Anyone reckon they will finish this one?

Figure out what works best for you and go balls deep!

To have @clarkey_jw as a partner in @innerfight & @tomwalkerfitness as a partner in @if_endurance is the most epic formula to make more people better at life.

Neither of us care much for long pants or boardrooms, from time to time we use cutlery and we constantly show up with honesty, simplicity, fun, hard work, mental toughness and an attitude to smash life.

36 hours of some of the most pure conversations I have had in my life. Absolutely next level. Even got given cold water by the police during our walk!!

Proud of our beginnings. Proud of change.

Our community was, and still is, super strong in Dubai. These are our roots. Things have evolved, as things do, but stepping back in to check on the athletes and friends in this community feels a little like coming home. The standard are the standards and we each play to them.

Unreal. 🙌

Dubai, the UK, Aus, NZ or online, the door's always open. 👊

Leadership Summit No 4.

Nothing fancy, just the basics. The biggest of the basics, Honesty.

2027 is going to be another epic one. Mainly thanks to these two and the visions that drives our decisions.

Ice baths on the lawn with old mate @robjonesendurance

Ice baths have gotten a fair bit of heat lately (pardon the pun). Arguments for, arguments against.
Over the years ive had a few iterations of an jce bath! It used to be the irish sea or barrel full of ice in the changing room showers, then the first ice bath centres started showing up, then I did DIY chest freezers at home before having a full gas at home set up with temp control. Now I have @longevity.wellness.hub @innerfight and the occasional one on the lawn at @oceanichotel

Once Izzy was born I stopped paying much attention to them, because an ice bath is the cherry on top of a large recovery pyramid. If your sleep isn’t good, an ice bath is going to do very little to help recovery. Same as if your nutrition is poor or you’re constantly stressed.

Sleep, nutrition, stress management. Get these right, then ice baths can move you onto the next level.

But also, I love the feeling of getting in and out the ice bath, that should not be discounted either. So I still use them, knowing it’s purely for the feeling and nothing truly measurable. That’s ok too.

They’re also excellent for lowering body temp after cooking yourself in Dubai training conditions. Definitely use them for that too.

Bottom line? If you like ice baths, use them. If you don’t, don’t. If the big 3 of recovery are well in place, an ice bath could help move the needle. If you’re really hot after a training session, they’re also good for cooling down too.
