Super Megabot (SMB)

Here you can see the SMB in a real world application. It’s being used to inspect storm drains. With all the flooding lately, governments and utility companies are scrambling to get all the storm drains, inspected and cleared of debris, so that they work properly.

This and other industrial robotic platforms are available from www.inspectorbots.com

Welding up the last Spider Mite roll cage.
We use steel and aluminum in our robots, -not plastic because, well, plastic is just not that durable. Would rather have a metal shovel or plastic shovel? Would you rather have a metal tool or a plastic tool?
Inspectorbots designs, builds and markets a line of rugged, industrial, inspection robots. For more information please visit us online at: www.inspectorbots.com or email us at info@inspectorbots.com.

Play…
.
.
Here I’ve mounted four colored sharpies to the four corners of this old computer fan. I drilled out the four corner mounting holes to fit the barrel of the markers. I also removed two or three fan blades to set up a vibration. I wired the fan to 12V battery-off camera. I turned it on and allowed the contraption to draw on a piece of card stock.
.
It’s important to allow yourself time to play -no matter what age you are.

We use twisted pairs of 18 gauge wire for the motors in the SPTM. Here you can see me making the twisted pairs using a Dewalt screw gun with an eyebolt attached. The wires are twisted together, and then cut to length before soldering to the motors. The SPTM is a rugged, industrial, inspection robot. The SPTM robot and several others are available from www.inspectorbots.com or email me for more information at info@inspectorbots.com.

Got water resistance?

Yes, we have water resistance on our Minibot line. Here you can see the red anodized Minibot during a water bath test. We seal all the openings and ports with silicone and urethane rubber to provide an IP66 ingress rating. Inspect a deck

Here you can see an operator setting up the Pan Tilt Minibot to inspect underneath a deck. This deck is pretty high off the ground, but the PTM can crawl under a very low deck with an overhead clearance of only 10 inches. The robot will transmit a lot of video feed to the operator. He watches the 12 inch monitor inside the Pelican Case OCU and uses it to navigate the robot. This robot and several others are available for sale at www.inspectorbots.com

Variable Pitch.

I had an old brushless motor sitting around and so I fabricated this plexiglass disc to fit the motor. I perforated the disc, at various intervals with a drill to create rings. I then start up the motor and force air from a compressor through the holes. Depending on the frequency of the holes I’m able to vary the pitch of the sound…
