POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Thank you to @bfannetwork for the opportunity to present alongside the indomitable @insta.dee on the Power of Play and the ways sport and community can elevate, support and enrich the experiences of women in corporate spaces.

I especially loved sharing this experience with Diana, who, like me, is living her dream of building community through sport in ways we could only have imagined. Through @team.ultrablack and @blackwomengolfers, we’re both creating spaces for women to connect, find belonging and experience the power of sport.

There’s something special about being in a room with people who understand that sport can be so much more than a game and whose passion it is to share that with community.

Today I want to celebrate my big sister Emma. 🖤

The firstborn of four, the only one born in Uganda before our parents fled to Kenya, and the person who helped shape the people her three younger siblings would become.

Being the oldest comes with responsibility, but being the oldest in a family navigating war, displacement, and starting over in new countries comes with a weight no child should have to carry. Emma was forced to grow up faster than most, helping raise Donna, Diana, and me while our parents worked tirelessly to build a better life for us.

Simply put, we wouldn’t be the people we are today without her.

Emma has always led with quiet confidence, strength, courage, and intention. She never needed to be the loudest in the room (that was always me 😅). Even when people think she’s following, she’s usually the one leading.

When she told us she was pursuing her Bachelor of Social Work while raising two incredible daughters and supporting their busy lives, I wondered how she’d manage it all. But Emma has always shown us that where there’s a will, there’s a way.

And she didn’t just graduate. She graduated with DISTINCTION as part of Nova Scotia’s groundbreaking Africentric Bachelor of Social Work cohort! 🎓👏🏿

Our parents taught us discipline and sacrifice, but Emma taught us resilience, bravery, and what it means to show up for the people you love, even when life demands more than it should.

Emma, I’ll never be able to thank you enough for the sacrifices you made before you were old enough to understand just how much you were giving. But I hope you know that Donna, Diana, and I are who we are because of the example you set.

Kenia and Evelyn are lucky to call you Mom, Sean is blessed to call you his wife, and I’m forever proud to call you my big sister.

You were the glue that held us together then, and you continue to inspire us today.

Love you, Big Bird. 🖤❤️

Your strength has always been quiet, but your impact has been loud!

There are so many memories from this past race weekend, but one of my biggest highlights was my TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon @chixrunthe6ix cheer station. It may have been small but we truly brought that noise LOUD until the very end !!! 💗🦄✨

I love being able to cheer when I’m not racing myself. Every year, it means so much to organize this station, design our shirts, and bring our community together on the East End to show runners and walkers the love and support they deserve on the marathon route. I love creating this space and showing that whether you’re chasing a personal best, running your first marathon, walking every step, pushing through pain, or simply trying to make it to that finish line, you deserve to have people in your corner reminding you that YOU CAN DO THIS. ❤️

There are so many stories from this weekend that I want to share on this post but these are some of the moments that really touched my soul and reminded me why I continue to show up for my community. Seeing the hard work, resilience, and determination of these incredible people, and being there to cheer them on until the very end, brought tears to my eyes more than once. 🥹

Here are some cheer videos of gems who have supported me through my own journey, and being able to give that love back means more than words can explain. I may not always be the one crossing the finish line, but I will always be there to celebrate those who do. This is why I cheer at races. This is why I create spaces where everyone is welcome, regardless of pace, body size, background, or experience. I want people to feel seen, celebrated, and supported, because no one should ever have to feel alone on their journey.

I'm so grateful for this community and for every person who makes this experience so special. My legacy has never been about how many finish lines I cross. It's about the people I lift up, the love I give, and the reminder that we are stronger together. Until next year, The SEA OF PINK will be back louder, brighter, bigger and with even more love/magic ! 💗🦄✨

THIS IS COMMUNITY. THIS IS MY WHY I CHEER. AND NO MATTER WHAT, I'LL KEEP SHOWING UP. ❤️🙌🏾 #communitylove #shokzstar

I’M A RUNNER, I’M A TRACK STAR… I WON’T STOP WHEN IT GETS HARD! 🏃🏾‍♂️💨🤣

I had to gather my thoughts because BRUH … WHAT A JOURNEY! 🤯🏃🏾‍♂️

If you told me a year and a half ago I’d be running 21.1KM, I would’ve laughed because HUH?! ME?! REXY?🤣 I couldn’t even run 1KM without stopping,THINKING about running was even a lot 😭

But ….Let’s Rewind to summer 2024. When @insta.dee & @_dfoxxy keep telling me to come to this run club called Ultra Black Run Club. For weeks, I made excuses because first, I AIN’T NO RUNNER, and second, everybody was gonna be faster than me! 😂

And some people definitely WAS! 🤣 But the encouragement, support, and community were UNREAL. Nobody cared about my pace. They just wanted me to SHOW UP. Before I knew it, Tuesdays became my running days🏃🏾‍♂️

🏁 2024: First @towaterfront42k 5K, finishing in 45:32
🏁 2025: Another 5K and two 10Ks.
🏁 2026: HALF MARATHON 21k

Bruhhhh, those 21 KM tested EVERYTHING! My endurance, mental strength, and MY ENTIRE EXISTENCE! 😭😂 at the 15km mark I questioned my decisions, but quitting wasn’t an option Plus, I needed my content and pictures because WHO AM I?! REXY,! 🤣📸

Seriously though, this journey taught me to stop counting myself out before even trying. Sometimes all you need to do is START.

To @team.ultrablack THANK YOU! You’ve made running something I genuinely look forward to. The love and encouragement mean EVERYTHING.

To my MOMMA BEAR, who flew FROM THE BAHAMAS to watch me run…Having you there meant the world.

To my family, friends, and EVERYONE who cheered, checked in, or showed up, THANK YOU! Y’all had me feeling like an ELITE ATHLETE! 😭🤣

If there’s one thing I hope someone takes from this, it’s STOP COUNTING YOURSELF OUT! You don’t have to be the fastest in room as long as you are in the room.

THE PRICE JUST WENT UP… 21.1KM, BABYYYY! 🏅💨

Congratulations to EVERY runner who crossed that finish line! WE DID THAT🙌🏾👏🏾

Soooo… WHO’S JOINING ME FOR 42.2KM IN 2028?! 👀

JK JK… unless?! 😭🤣🏃🏾‍♂️💨

Today I want to give a special shoutout to my younger sister, Diana. ❤️

Not just for everything she’s accomplished personally and professionally, but for the intention and purpose behind how she continues to break barriers while creating opportunities for others to do the same.

Growing up, she wasn’t the most athletic one in the family 😂, so if you told me back then what she would accomplish through running, I probably wouldn’t have believed you. With that being said, she has always been active and played sports.

I was there when she first launched Ultra Black, a running and wellness community for Black people in Toronto. Watching that vision grow into a movement reaching thousands of people, with chapters across Ontario, has been nothing short of inspiring.

And now, CONGRATULATIONS on completing your FIRST MARATHON! 🏃🏾‍♀️🏅❤️ An incredible personal achievement, but what makes it even more meaningful is knowing how many others you’ve inspired and supported along the way. From encouraging people to take their first steps walking or running, to helping them push beyond what they thought was possible and prioritize their health and wellness, your impact goes far beyond any finish line.

What makes me proudest isn’t just what you’ve accomplished. It’s how many people you’ve brought along with you.

Despite being my younger sister, she continues to teach me lessons about leadership, personal growth, resilience, and the power of community that I carry into my own life and work.

To say I’m proud would be an understatement. Sometimes the people we grow up trying to inspire become the very people who inspire us most. ❤️

Love you, Diana. Can’t wait to see what heights you reach next. Keep breaking barriers, challenging expectations, and bringing people with you!

Because the greatest achievements aren’t always measured by how far we go, but by how many people we inspire to move forward with us. 🖤✊🏾

We still can’t get over what a beautiful day yesterday was! 🥹🖤

A huge congratulations to all our runners! Running 21 km or 42 km is no small feat, and every single one of you inspired us in so many ways.

To our Ultra Black runners, I really hope you take some time today to reflect on just how far you’ve come. Three years ago, this community didn’t even exist, and many of us probably weren’t running at all. Fast forward to yesterday, and we had almost 50 of you out there taking on a half or full marathon. HOW INCREDIBLE IS THAT?!

Seeing how much you continue to challenge yourselves, believe in yourselves, and show up for one another is something really special. We are so incredibly proud of each and every one of you. We love y’all so much!

Also huge thank you to @newbalancerunning for helping us bring our Varsity Cheer Station to life! What a day!! 🎊✨
