I had the privilege of speaking with Thomas Hobbs for @bbc_culture recently about composer Bernard Herrmann. I’m both honored and excited to be quoted alongside Herrmann’s daughter Dorothy, my personal hero Steven C. Smith and composers Rachel Zeffira and Michael Vincent Waller.

My documentary, a passion project, is inching toward the finish line and I’ll have some updates on it in the next year or so.

Here’s a link to the article (also in my bio):

And more on the Bernard Herrmann project, if you’d like to follow along: @bernardherrmannmovie

Taken by @instabrandonbrown November 2021 at 7:48AM in New York’s JFK airport, on his way to his gate. The bright morning light coming through the tall airport windows, along with the silhouette of the traveler in front of him and the view of the planes on the tarmac was astounding. He couldn’t resist taking a photo.

Rest In Peace, Pearl Kaufman. Perhaps most known in the world of cinema for her piano work on Bob Rafelson’s FIVE EASY PIECES (1970) — and she even taught Jack Nicholson how to play piano. Also a pianist for Igor Stravinsky, Henry Mancini, Maurice Jarre, Franz Waxman and Lyn Murray.

I interviewed her in 2018 for @bernardherrmannmovie, as she worked with Bernard Herrmann on his [rejected] score for Hitchcock’s TORN CURTAIN (1966).

Quite a career. Extraordinary pianist. We tried meeting up again in 2019, but scheduling didn’t work out.

Such a sweet person. Her music will live on in time and space.
