When two bad bass players show up at Pete’s Bass Shop at the same time to pick up their instruments, the blues are bound to happen!
Garrett Baxter just picked up this Chadwick Folding Bass, and had some minor seam gluing- he’s ready to tour the world. And Shawn Wang, brought his Thompson Hybrid in for a fingerboard re-dress to correct bad radii, and scoop issues. So now, it plays 100% easier. Check out this clip I got of them getting to it. If I close my eyes, it’s almost like listening to Ray Brown and Christian McBride. Enjoy this Bax-datious ShWang! #bassblues #uprightbass #allinadayswork #petesuprightbassshop

JACK RADSLIFF fea. Randy Porter, Garrett Baxter and Michael Raynor ⬇

Two Shows: 10/17 6:30 PM / 8:30 PM - SAVE $10.00 on the 6:30 PM Show by using the CODE: JACK at checkout.

Classic songs and original music from four mainstays of the Portland Jazz Scene!

Jack Radsliff is on the short list of jazz guitarists in the Pacific Northwest. As a bandleader, his trio featuring Patrick Golichnik and Michael Raynor, has become a fixture at clubs throughout the region. As a collaborator, Radsliff is a first-call for many; frequently playing in the bands of Ron Steen, Michael Raynor, Cyrus Nabipoor, Galen Clark, Christopher Brown, Chuck Israels, Alan Jones, Kerry Politzer, George Colligan, Dan Balmer, Idit Shner, Kathleen Hollingsworth, Torrey Newhart and many more: a veritable who’s who of Oregon’s jazz musicians. In addition to his steady work around the PNW, last year afforded Jack opportunities to work with Jonathan Pinson, Greg Ward, Xavier Lecouturier and the Domo Branch/Charlie Brown Big Band; release his sophomore record “Barefoot” (PJCE Records) featuring Randy Porter, Todd Sickafoose and Alan Jones; and tour the west coast extensively with Ian George, Cyrus Nabipoor and the Jack Radsliff Trio.

Improvisation Summit of Portland- NIGHT 15

Neighbors + Skerik
And special guests!

Hallowed Halls
4420 SE 64th Ave, Portland, OR 97206

MON 10/26, 8pm

Skerik: Skerik's world is one where dialogue flows freely between wildly disparate strains of musical thought... where no borders exist between jazz & sludge metal, where elements of Congolese soukous dialect might find their way onto the million-selling records of an alternative rock band, where an avant-garde electronic translation of Ornette Coleman's deepest & darkest fantasies (shared with a select few listeners in a small club) easily attains the same level of satisfaction & meaning as an exuberant explosion of jazz/funk catharsis (shared with hordes of sweaty festival crowds all over the world).

Neighbors: a "garage band," whose garage happens to be The Center For Sound, Light, and Color AKA Color Therapy Studios in the historic Alberta Arts District of Portland, OR. Guitarist Mike Gamble, bassist Garrett Baxter, and drummer Machado Mijiga formed the band because, well, they're neighbors.

Neighbors explores indie rock, pop, and folk through the lense of jazz improvisation, playing everything from through-composed compositions, to simple riffs, to co-written songs that span multiple genres and aesthetics.

Neighbors writes and records new music every month—one month, the band performed 32 freshly written songs at a show in the span of two hours.

Neighbors seems to bring neighborly music to neighborhoods around the world, one song at a time.
