110 days into Israel’s US funded & supported ongoing genocidal attack on Gaza, the West Bank, and Palestinians everywhere, @ryahq’s exhortation to sustained and escalating action at the Detroit launch of #PracticingNewWorlds is as relevant as ever. “We refuse.” We refuse normalization of genocidal violence and intent We refuse the unconscionable deadly, sexual, torturous, and reproductive violence if the Israeli state against Palestinian women, girls, queer, and trans people and their beloved families and communities. We refuse forcible expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza We refuse to turn away We refuse to be complicit Act now, today and every day, until Palestine is free, from the River to the Sea. #PermanentCeasefireNow #EndtheOccupation #NoBillionsforGenocide 📹: @myronwatkinsii & @invincibledet

At this event, our BDNH network will be unveiling these 13 principles for interrupting criminalization in the context of accessing medical care and inviting health care providers, social workers, nurses, midwives, allied health workers and healers, public health workers and researchers to commit to refusing to participate in, facilitate, or condone criminalization. As we prepare to launch these principles we are asking for support from abolitionist and health justice organizations to sign on to, and offer testimony and help in promoting the BDNH Principles: ✔️Sign onto our Organizational Endorsement Form: tinyurl.com/EndorseBDNH ✔️Sign up as an individual to plug into BDNH work (your information will not be shared with anyone): tinyurl.com/NetworkBDNH “Beyond Do No Harm Principles Release Party Thursday, November 3, 2022, 6:30-8:30 PM ET Join us for a panel discussion and invitation to action on how health care providers can recommit to caring for people by refusing to participate in criminalization. This zine is such an incredible resource from @project.nia & @interruptcrim! Adapted from @mpd_150. Free copies to download and print in our webstore, or if you don’t have access to a printer we’ll send you a copy for the price of shipping only. When awful violence occurs, it’s easy to fall back on what is ingrained — carceral and punitive “solutions” — but police and prisons continue not to help must be abolished. If you or someone you know has doubts please read this zine! Awesome design/illustrations by @noahjodice. Edition of 300 but we are happy to print more if needed. ALSO link in bio to @project.nia’s new super inspiring virtual zine project, a tool called #1mexperiments which showcases community-based safety experiments all over the world! Endlessly encouraged by their work.

Last week, we hosted a call with many of our partners, and got to hear from @tewawomenunited, @conmijente, and @justfutureslaw, who shared their insights on the growing landscape of surveillance and policing under COVID-19. Check out these beautiful graphic notes by @radicalroadmaps, which capture some key snapshots from the call! Fighting for a world where we keep ourselves and each other safe, without policing or punishment, takes all of us. We're filled with gratitude to be in this fight with so many others, all of us rooted in the belief that we should be investing in care and building networks of support and safety, rather than targeting, criminalizing, and harming communities already bearing the brunt of the co-pandemics of COVID-19 and state violence. #COVIDWithoutCops

#DefundPolice is a demand to cut funding and resources from police departments and other law enforcement and invest in things that actually make our communities safer: quality, affordable, and accessible housing, universal quality health care, including community-based mental health services, income support to stay safe during the pandemic, safe living wage employment, education, and youth programming. It is rooted in a larger Invest/Divest framework articulated in the Movement for Black Lives' Vision for Black Lives. ⠀ ⠀ Check out the toolkit by Interrupting Criminalization: Research in Action. The project aims to interrupt and end the growing criminalization and incarceration of women and LGBTQ people of color for criminalized acts related to public order, poverty, child welfare, drug use, survival and self-defense, including criminalization and incarceration of survivors of violence.⠀ ⠀ www.interruptingcriminalization.com
