A few short months ago, I finished my art residency at @ioutheatre (this is a long caption sorry)
I’m so grateful to have been given the opportunity to take time out to create, explore, research, spend time in nature, go on a million walks, make mistakes, reflect and develop my creative practice whilst nestled in the hills of Hebden Bridge(??!?!!) Whilst the time spent ended up far more introspective than originally planned, I’m so happy to have been able to spend time running workshops & creating with others, from outdoor mindful drawing to foraged festive decorations with @madeonthemoors, tote bag decorating at @nowadaze_festival, creative journaling, clay sculpting with year 6 leavers (& being made fun of for my 3/4 cargos)… We collaborated with @inthefleshstudios on a lovely exhibition for @hebdenbridgehostel open day showcasing emerging local artists, I hand-printed some tote bags for @cowmanchester Halloween event, took part in some lovely art fairs & exhibitions, released my first zine, painted the upper calder valley on some windows backwards, helped out at some amazing events & retreats, started collecting pottery sherds(?!!!), found out so much about my creative process and what motivates me, cried in Hebden library or up a hill or by a waterfall lots of times, filled sketchbook after sketchbook & drew & drew & drew

The best thing about the residency was all the lovely people I met, I’m so lucky to have been part of IOU & the Hostel’s world even for a short time (& looking forward to continuing to work together in the future) & I’m glad to have learnt you can be productive and make amazing things alongside valuing rest & self care.
After a hibernation season with a capital H, I’m super excited to start sharing my @mead.owcraft project born out of the residency (now the days are warming up & life is feeling sunnier), whilst getting this post-res exhibition organised up north (while moving down to hackney wick for a bit lol) but more on that later !!
