POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

You miss all the shots you don’t take

On this day FIVE YEARS AGO I went on @inthepocketpod as guest back when Jonny was running the podcast solo!

We ended up having a technical disaster so we had to completely re-record the episode, but I had such a good time I didn’t care and a few months later I asked if I could come on again and not long after that I joined as a co-host!

Since that point we added video to the podcast, travelled to Essex to interview Dan from @ashdownamps , shot not 1 but 2 Guitar Shows dragging 2 Sony’s on gimbals + a pedalboard and laptop, we’ve been to the Fender Showroom in London, @andybaxterbassandguitars in Leeds, met and interviewed guests we thought we’d NEVER have agree to come on, and last weekend we even flew out to Germany to cover guitar summit

The point of this post mainly is if I hadn’t said to Jonny randomly “hey can I co-host this with you?” my life would have been completely different:

No podcast
No serious content
No YouTube channel
No amazing community of bass players who I get the honour of chatting to most days about something we mutually love

None of that

The truth is I owe a tonne of that to Jonny. Sure I’ve put the work in, but the poor guy has been next to me every step of the way, wether he likes it or not 😂

Here’s to the next five years of being pals. Love ya dude x

😂 This conversation escalated quickly...

It started with a simple question...

“Which bass YouTuber would make the better Marvel character?”

A few minutes later we’d somehow arrived at:

🥊 Chris Horrocks vs Johnny Dibble

🦸 Doctor Strange comparisons

😂 @dannysapko catching strays

😳 @ianmartinallison and @scottdevinebass as you’ve never seen them before (and may never want to see them again)

🤼 And the idea of a World Wrestling Bass Federation!

Sometimes the best moments in interviews are the ones nobody planned.

👇 So... who are you backing?

Team Chris and Jonny
Danny “the badger” Sapko
Or the Bass Brothers Scott and Ian

And we’re back….

This week on Now That’s Bass:

What does a modern bass career really look like?

This week on Now That’s Bass, I’m joined by Chris Horrocks (That Guy On Bass) for a brilliant conversation about building a sustainable career in music.

We talk about session work, weddings, content creation, podcasts, social media, tone chasing, networking and why the musicians who get hired aren’t always the best players—they’re the people everyone wants to work with.

If you’re serious about making music your career, there’s a lot to take away from this one.

The OG @ja.guitars scroll-cut 🤟

Love this bass, easily one of the most comfortable basses I’ve ever held and the tones from this thing is class! Wal-esq pre-amp filter system and loaded with @bartolinipups - My go to for all recording sessions and my current favourite to play live 👌

Thank you @tuzni84 for creating such a beautiful instrument 🫶
