I've been thinking a lot about my fitness journey, why there are times I struggle so much and other times that it comes so easily. We only become better when we reflect on our mistakes and our short comings. It's thru reflection that those trials can contribute to our success. If we do nothing with those OPPSIES then they do nothing to help us become better. As I reflect back, here is what I see:
🗓2015 - started my journey with no where to go but a whole lot better. I began exercising muscles I long forgot I had and inches were quickly falling off of me. Instagram was an entirely new world to me and I was feeding off the excitement of strangers and pushing myself towards the goal! Unfortunately, I wasn't eating enough and once the initial fat loss happened, and the program lost its brand new shine, I started finding myself with the desire to binge eat here and there!
🗓2016 - a year of highs and lows. Traveled and met some of my favorite IG friends who became in real life friends now. Would do well for a few months, then stumble off the wagon. End of the year was definitely the height of this roller coaster fighting depression, lethargy and weight gain. Would soon be diagnosed with Hashimotos and it would make more sense. 🗓 2017 - we are still so new to this year, but so far it's turning into my best year yet! I'm eating for health now with the Hashimotos diagnosis and never before have I felt so satisfied with my nutrition, yet the side effect has been effortless weight loss. I've always felt that I was "one bad meal away" from losing it and giving in to the temptation monster. That if I wasn't diligent, I could easily say "screw it" and wind up in a vat of McDonald's French fries 🍟🍟 But for the first time that I can remember, I no longer feel like I'm on a diet, but rather living purposefully, sustainably and with intent. It's no longer about cheat meals vs. clean meals. Everyday is a meal I look forward to and enjoy because it's nourishing, filling and delicious. Why would I cheat on that? I challenge you to spend some time truly reflecting on the good and bad of your journey. What works for you and what doesn't & why you are settling for less!
