Laura Holford '08 is making the world a better place, as Harker alums do! She co-founded Introspective Spaces, an organization supporting healthcare workers' well-being through creativity and community.
Introspective Spaces is hosting a free, public event in Oakland on Aug. 29. They are marking two milestones: A new partnership with the UC Berkeley–UCSF Joint Medical Program, which trains the next generation of physician changemakers at the intersection of medicine, public health, and health equity; and a celebration of the graduates of their Healing Together cohort — clinicians who spent twelve weeks reconnecting with creativity, reflection, and one another.
If you are interested in or believe in the restorative power of the arts, please join the event.

Creativity is resistance, creativity is rest ❤️

A recap of the Artists Way Pinning Ceremony in LA celebrating the participants who completed the Spring chapter of the Artists Way creativity program!

The room was not only filled with healthcare workers representing almost every part of the workforce, but also echoed the same sentiment - that we need each other to survive in this complex ecosystem and that our creative practices give space to create out of our experiences.

The program has helped so many healthcare workers blossom into artists, and here's the proof! - from writers to vocalists to poets, some of whom have self-published their work this year! to crafters & healthcare parents finding ways to incorporate simple creative practices with their little ones. That is the magic of this program i.e the activation energy to just begin, and a supportive community that bears witness to the process ✨

Check out @introspectivespaces and their newest offerings with a rebrand, but serving the same purpose 🙏🏽

What happens when we create and hold space for our full humanity in medicine? This is the beautiful, quietly revolutionary work Dr Anu Gorukanti and Laura Holford RN are doing at Introspective Spaces @introspectivespaces

We talked about contemplative practice, community care, moral distress, the Artist’s Way for healthcare workers, and why healthcare is comfortable saying “innovation” but terrified of saying “creativity.”

(Spoiler: innovation without creativity is just a circle.)

New episode of The Other Human in the Room is out now. Listen & subscribe in your fave podcast platform❤️🎙️❤️

Sending love to the family and friends of Ada Doss — and to everyone who has lost someone, or who carries their own wounds, from violence in healthcare.

When the realities of modern medicine left them spiritually depleted, two healthcare workers turned to each other for support. Now, their initiative is helping clinicians across the country process moral distress and reconnect with the deeper purpose of their work.

In our Spiritual Solutions Library, we learn about the journey of Edgar Villanueva, author of "Decolonizing Wealth: Indigenous Wisdom to Heal Divides and Restore Balance." Villanueva is also the Founder and CEO of Decolonizing Wealth Project.

This article highlights how reparative philanthropy, grounded in healing through a process of truth and reconciliation, calls on every sector to shift from transactional giving to relationships rooted in deeper values.

Beloveds, words feel hard to come by these days. •I’m sorry. • This hurts. • Why, why? • •When will change come? •What am I to do? • Over the weekend Alex Pretti was fatally shot by ICE. Many of us are pouring into the streets to call for justice and to protect our neighbors. And in the midst of it all, how is it with your soul? We invite you to slow down, and to process through poetry. Sign up using the link in our bio or by emailing annadeepwells@gmail.com. Collective healing is part of how we move through this.
