A year ago, 11 of my friends came to La Gomera to see us off.

It's hard to put into words how grateful I am to have such beautiful people in my life.

I live on the other side of the world. Literally, that's 6 time zones away.

If I'm lucky I get to see these guys once a year for a couple hours in a bar in Germany. During Covid I didn't see them for 3 years straight.

Yet, they take a week off from work, pay for travel and accommodation, fly out to Tenerife, take a bus across the island, another ferry to La Gomera — to then maybe spend a day tops with me, as I am busy preparing the boat to row across the Atlantic.

Who else would do that for their friend?

Some of the people in this photo I've known for over 25 years. 1 of these 25 years I travelled Asia, 8 of them I've lived in Indonesia. And yet there is still so much love.

Rowing away from that pier in La Gomera knowing I had the blessings of my best friends is something I will never forget.

Here's to real friendship. Real real real real real friendship.

Award Ceremony in London organised by the @worlds.toughest.row team 😍

After a boozie reception at the London May Fair Hotel we sat down in the cinema room to watch the official race recap video and see every team receive their awards and certificates ❤️

After more drinks and food in the ball room we went next door to Tabu Club where we had the floor to ourselves.

A fleet strong on the oars and even stronger on the drinks. 🎉

What a great ending from the race organisers.

Thank you Carsten, Nikki, Ian, Fraser, Cristian, Manni, it was great seeing you all again and thank you also to the rest of the WTR gang. 🙏

Hi Danny here, I know it's been quiet on here. Honestly, I felt a little lost and getting distance from all of this felt good.

I'm ready to share our story, show you what it actually means to row across an ocean, maybe even inspire you to make a donation to our fundraiser before we close it.

We have a lot of video and audio material and instead of waiting for the perfect edit idea I might as well share the raw footage with you.

Starting with, obviously, the start. 13 December in San Sebastian La Gomera we and 38 other boats stood ready to take on the Atlantic. Special, special moment.

The fleet felt like family not competition. Lot's of hugs and giving congratulations for making it to the start line. Which is an achievement in itself.

Families and friends at the pier waiting to see us off. La Gomera was amazing, stressful yes, but amazing.

More soon.

Danny
