Sadhana gave one of her best performance in MERA SAAYA. One of my absolute favorite, my comfort movie for a suspense thriller.

Raj Khosla's MERA SAAYA was a remake of the 1964 Marathi film PATHLAAG directed by Raja Paranjape. But very few know that both films were adapted from a Marathi novel, 'ASHA PARAT YETE' written by Jayant Deokule.

As described by one writer, Madhulika - "Pathlaag and Mera Saaya are so similar that one needs to see them relatively close together in order to see the differences in the details".

One of the few contrasts here, would be the songs. While MERA SAAYA had memorable number of evergreen songs. PATHLAAG only had two. One which is equivalent to 'Jhumka Gira Re' and the other one is equivalent to 'Tu Jahan Chalega'.
